AISIN THT-018 Engine Coolant Thermostat - Compatible with Select Toyota 4Runner, Pickup, T100

Tried two different thermostats before purchasing this one. Truck doesn't runner cooler now. Happy with purchase! Note: this doesn't include the O ring.

The only way to pay more for this thermostat is to buy it directly from Toyota. At this price point there is absolutely no reason to not include the gasket. The $4.50 thermostat from the local parts store comes with a gasket. I haven't put this 'stat into a pot of water alongside its competitors to test the opening temperature, but it sure looks like the $4.50 thermostat (that I had to buy in order to get the freakin' gasket). If you conclude that I'm a bit disgruntled about having to make a trip into town to buy a gasket, then you have definitely followed the plot. It's a 30 cent part, it needs to be changed with the thermostat, why be so cheap when you are charging so much?

I replaced my water pump and thought it would be a good idea to replace the thermostat while I was at it. The new one never opened and caused my 90 4runner pickup to overheat. I replaced it with the old one and all was good again. I must have received a bad one. A professional mechanic double checked and confirmed.
