It Does Exactly What It Says It Does
It is small. I don't mind that because it's easy to store. It's also a very basic machine with an on/off button, a lid and no "heat shield" on the bottom (it's not needed because you are not resting your hands on the bottom anyway. Some people have complained that it isn.t large enough. I have large hands, but they are not very fleshy. I have no trouble submerging my entire hand up to the wrist into the paraffin bath. I did buy extra paraffin and found that adding 1 1/2 bars of paraffin makes for a deeper bath. I did not buy it intending to submerge my feet, but if that is something you want to do, you would be better off with a larger unit. The wax does take about 2 1/2 hours to melt completely. Once I realized that, I just remember to turn it on about 3 hours before I plan to use it. I do not find the heat to be excessive. Yes, it is hot....but you are dipping your hand in and out pretty quickly and the heat is therapeutic. I have never found it intolerable. I've noticed that after using the paraffin bath daily for a week, I not only have less pain in my finger joints, but my fingernails are not breaking as easily or peeling. Win/win. I did not waste my money on gloves. I use (and reuse) a zip lock bag. The paraffin is great quality, moisturizes nicely and, if you follow instructions and dip 5 times for 5 thin layers, makes a thick layer that easily peels off like a glove after about 15 minutes. All in all, I'm very happy with this inexpensive, no frills unit. Update 8/28/23 - Still very pleased with this. One tip for those who think the wax is too hot. I remove the lid once the wax is completely melted and wait 10 minutes to dip my hand. The wax cools just enough so that it is more comfortable on the skin. Hope this helps.

Love this paraffin bath, It is so easy to use. Purchased to help with rehabbing a broken wrist. I was told by my occupational therapist about this paraffin bath.

Small but works fine.
A bit small for big hands, and slow to melt wax.

Small but effective
This is a small paraffin bath for hands. I have small hands and they fit, but there's not enough room to fully open all my fingers. I do like it doesn't take up a lot of space. Just an on/off button, no temp button. I've used paraffin baths before, and it is hot, but I have no issue dipping my hand in a few times before wrapping in plastic bags. If you have sensitive hands, just test it first. I didn't like the scented wax it came with, so I purchased 2 lbs unscented from another vendor. I used 1 1lb bag, and it was enough, but will likely add more so it covers the top of my hand as well. I turn it on and go back after about 90 minutes, and it is all melted. No big deal, just turn it on while you are still cooking, cleaning, etc.. and it will be melted when you go back to it later.

Too small for practical use
This is a very simple, basic, and small machine. This would be good for a young teen; not an adult or anyone looking to use this machine for anything other than beauty. I am small, 5ft 2in and wear a size 5 ring. I cannot keep my fingers separated when dipping my hand. Which causes the fingers to stick together and creates a tear in the wax, so when you dip your hand again you ALMOST get burned (it was quite painful). I am returning it and have already ordered a different and larger machine for a bit more $$. (My wrist/hand look thick in the photo because I broke my wrist Dec 2 and had surgery- I ordered a paraffin wax machine at the recommendation of my physical therapist.

after heating and melting the wax, unplug it 10 min before you want to use it.
The reviews are correct 1. it is not 1lbs of wax it's a bit less 2. there is no temp control 3. it can get quite hot (140+) 4. It does take 3 hours to melt the less than 1lbs of wax. 5. unless you have barbie sized feet they wont' fit. 6. you can get a decent sized man's hand in there okay. however, I figured out I need to measure the temperature of the wax and unplug it or turn it off to get the temp down to about 125 before I can put in my hand without burning myself. usually there is a little "skin" on top of the wax about then if you don't have a thermometer. for the price point of $30 I think it's about right. It's cheaper than most alternatives and has better ratings than other ones in this price point. If i love it then I will invest in a nice one. Meanwhile it's a good starter set.

Disappointed
I bought this because I had one years ago that worked well...do not like this version of the product for the following reasons: 1. It's way too small. I still tried it, dipping first the heel then top of my foot then used a rubber spatula to try to hit my arch and top of my foot. It did not work well 2. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to melt the wax. It's been 3 hours and it's still not fully melted. I get that conair doesn't want their product to burn someone, but the wax shouldn't take that long to melt. Maybe adding a dual switch / one for melt, another for dipping / would be helpful ... but this product doesn't have that function 3. Since I tried it, I can't return it and just threw away $35 - which sucks! The manual says melt time is 90 minutes- I wouldn't have even tried to use it if I thought I'd be waiting for the wax to melt three hours later...maybe my unit is defective and I'll be able to get refunded for it. But either way I don't recommend buying this based on the size and issues with the wax not melting as claimed in the manual. Spend a little more money and get a wax machine that works better - I still want one but will check the reviews more thoroughly first.

The item received is already used. The box is not sealed and the wax is already inside the machine and dried out. Not recommended
