Playlist: The Very Best Of Carly Simon

This latest release from Carly Simon is one in a long line of compilation releases from Sony/Legacy known as the "Playlist" series. According to their website, they refer to these releases as "Painstakingly compiled this series represents an artist's complete body of work. Not just the hits, but the life changing cuts, rare out of print tracks & fan favorites." While this release falls short of that statement, given Simon's incredible and lengthy body of work, this is still a quality overview that pulls from 1985's Spoiled Girl through 2000's The Bedroom Tapes. There are better and more comprehensive collections of Simon's work out there, such as 2004's outstanding Reflections: Carly Simon's Greatest Hits, and 2002's 2-disc Anthology, but this is a satisfying overview of Simon's latter career recordings and will please long time fans of Simon's, and those who are just discovering this musical genius.

The listing on Amazon doesn't reveal that six of the songs are live. Most foks are probably looking for the studio versions and it would be nice to know upfront that some of songs such as You're So Vain and Nobody Does It Better are live versions.

THE BEST SONG EVER IS ON THIS CD "LET THE RIVER RUN" DOESN't GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS SONG LOVE IT

Saw Carley in her shop on the Vineyard several years ago and she is just as beautiful as her music. Wish I had the nerve to tell her🙁

If you like Carly Simon, this is for you … she is a real treasure and this CD is a 'gem'.

I liked a lot of the tracks, but not all of them. I should have bought one that gave you the mp3 free and I could have found out more details on the contents.

Great selection. Only missing 'Why' but apart from that good choice. Note :many of the tracks are from a live album , however, for me, they are so well executed that the live element just adds to the effect.
