Good parts. but not much in the way of pride in finishing work or the final Quality check.
You have to trim some leads on the bottom of the ramps or it wont sit properly on top the arduino.Depinding on your personal ocd you will need to clean some flux resedue.Other than those two points the ramps and arduino have pretty good build quality. and work as expected. Now the stepsticks on the other hand are suffering badly from the lack of QC from the factory. The pcb's were made as brakeaway boards wich is standerd practis nothing wrong with that.but they didnt clean up the edges AT ALL. you WILL need to file the boards or they wont fit properly together. The small potenteomiters on the board are junk junk ... seriosly bad junk. they spin 360 with no problem letting you go from lowest setting to full power in a small move.. and there is no isolationWould i recomend this.Sadly yes i would as this is the same kit you will get for 90% of all ramps sellers be it produced in this or other factories.individual part wise there ok but you need to do your own quality checking before you start appling power to this. The statement aboive is not to discurige this product it is simply to reinforce what should be commen practis given this class od DIY" electronics. My only real compleant with this kit is the lack of clean edges on the stepsticks and that badly chosen pot to adjest power.

Excellent value, but minor quality problems may prove troublesome for a novice
This is a beautiful kit, an excellent value for the price. I'm in the process of building a 3D printer from scratch, and this kit will be the brains and brawn behind it. I wanted to give this a 5 star rating, but my kit had a few minor issues which forced me to reevaluate my rating. Issue 1: The stepper driver boards were improperly trimmed, and would not fully seat because of interference from the neighboring boards. A little filing fixed the problem. Issue 2: The ramps board had a solder connection on the bottom of the board which preventing it from fully being inserted onto the arduino mega board: it was hitting the power jack shroud and also had to be trimmed. Issue 3: The display was missing the control knob. Not a big deal, I recently bought another kit (from robotlinking) as a backup in case I inadvertently fried the 1st one. None of these were major issues for me, but troubleshooting these types of problems are difficult for a novice. I highly recommend this kit. Still a great deal.

Excellent quality. All you need for your 3D reprap project
I have been using RAMPS boards + Arduino for over 4 years, obtaining the separate parts from Ebay. This made assembling the electronics portion of a 3D reprap a crapshoot. This is the best combo I have ever seen, the quality is breathtaking. All the components were packaged individually in anti-static bags so as long as you take anti-static precautions in opening the bags you will be ok. The soldering on the RAMPS board is outstanding, which for the garbage I have seen being sold elsewhere is saying a lot. The Arduino board looks like a real Arduino board, not a clone. All the components were placed on a sturdy plastic case not shown in the product description that you can use for other things.Surprisingly the Pololu drivers were preset to 0.624 volts on all of them which shows that some serious quality control is going on here. It's a good setting to start out with and I left those settings as found on my reprap machine. I loaded the latest Marlin software and tested that everything worked. As long as you keep the finished assembly cooled directly by fan, it will most likely be quite durable. The quality was so good I will be buying two more kits.

Not for novice builder, but adequate provided your display isn't defective (like mine)
As others have mentioned this type of kit is not meant for a notice. If you have very limited knowledge of Arduino code or Arduino/Pi hardware assembly I would proceed with extreme caution. The seller includes a CD-R with various open-sourced generic Arduino guides in multiple languages, but odd are this will only be reference material when you need help and lack a internet connection.EXPECT to be utilizing forums and YouTube videos to assemble and set this up according to your 3d printer application. In all likelihood you will also need an understanding of terminating wires with dupont style connectors. The connectors will be needed to connect your printer wiring to the RAMPS board.... those connectors (understandably) are not included.Everything was packaged well, but as other have noted you will likely have to straighten and realign pins connecting the two boards. The two boards could fit a bit more nicely together, as even with multiple attempts I was unable to get both boards seated completely without any spacing - note that both were able to make sufficient connection.Ultimately I am dissatisfied with this kit because the display I received was faulty (see pic). Otherwise the display was in perfect physical condition. So, the only way you would know your display was faulty as well was after you completely assemble the kit and load firmware.NOW I'm stuck with attempting to get a replacement display shipped fro the seller (Longrunner) which might be difficult since I would be looking to return JUST the defective part and not disassemble and return the entire kit. I have yet to attempt this process.

Voltage regulator blew on the mega after just under a ...
EDIT: The company was very quick to contact me for a replacement. I'm assuming the part that was sent just had a bad voltage regulator on it, but I have received an entire new pack from the company (they replaced everything, not just the blown arduino). The setup does definitely work for the printer i'm running and controls it well (Marlin Firmware). I'm happy with the quick correction and the part I received.Original Message: Voltage regulator blew on the mega after just under a week of use. Used 12V power supply with the mosfet provided. This was after multiple power issues on the board. More than likely, I got a defective board, but I'm leaving a 1 star review for the experience I had. Arduino gets extremely hot whenever it's plugged into a power supply. USB still works with the LCD display, but again, I need the printer's power supply to Beware, this is not an official arduino mega!
