Q: Where is it made? China or Japan?

I just received one today, 7/13/2022. Label on box says "made in china".

Q: In your opinion is this a better alternative to a chef's/utility knife?

Not a Chef. I’ve been using this knife awhile now & have no complaints. It’s sharp, slices whatever I need sliced. It’s ergonomically. Better than a chef’s knife/utility knife about the same for me.

Q: It says good with fish but, can you gut/and fillet even a tough skinned fish such as Bass?

It is extremely sharp. I had an oops moment with mine that illustrated just how sharp without question. I don’t think you’d have any difficulty.

Q: Is it dishwasher safe?

You don't really put knives in a dishwasher unless it's a throw away cheap knife that you don't mind getting ruined. No chef I know washes their knives in a dishwasher. But you can wash it in a dishwasher, if you fancy.
