My just turned three year old has always been very much into books and would sit and be read to for hours if she had it her way. So I wanted to have an electronic read aloud device for her. I was not impressed with the stories on the typical cheaper readers (i.e. the Disney princess and Mickey Mouse ones). The stories are basic and bare bones. If your child is used to reading longer, more well written and detailed stories, those would be a snore. I went with this reader because the stories seemed to be longer and more advanced. I was right - this is perfect for her. The stories are just the right length (done in 4-5 minutes I would say). My daughter takes a while to get the hang of certain electronic toys and this one she figured out very quickly. It is very intuitive and simple to use, and makes a pleasant chime sound when it is time to turn the page. There is an option to do songs and my daughter loves playing these and dancing around. The sound quality can actually be quite loud if you want it. And it is very clear. My only criticisms would be 1) I wish the stories would be read a tad bit slower and 2) I wish the illustrations were more interesting and detailed but these are small factors. Overall this is a GREAT set for kids. I read somewhere that it is for ages 2-5. A two year old would probably be too little to really enjoy this; I would say this is probably ideal for ages 3-6.

Such a great way for kids to listen to songs and stories! Our three year old daughter likes to take this in the car. She sings and dances with the songs at home. She likes reading the books each night. Do wish there were more pictures in the books. But she still enjoys them.

My son loves it. Sometimes he just listens to the songs or stories without the books. Its easy to use and keeps him entertained for a long time. Its a good alternative to smartphones and tablets. It's also helpful for anyone learning to read. Its useful before bed or in the car, and when you want your child to take a break from the tv for awhile. I only wish the volume was a little louder.

This is the second take along storyteller we have bought recently. We got the Bible story's & songs first (which was cheaper) and was really impressed, so got this one for our second daughter. The recordings aren't as clear, but our daughter likes it, so guess it was a hit, but I think they shouldn't charge more for a less quality product. Also, just a personal preference, but I would've really liked to know what songs were on it, but they only post which stories it has, not the songs. Overall it was ok (compared to the Bible stories & songs) I wouldn't return it now, but also wouldn't have gotten it if I had known more about it.

Gave as a baby shower gift. Soon to be mother requested a book instead of a card. She loved it.

This gift is perfect for my book loving three year old! She loves the independence that she has, and loves all the stories!

Granddaughter loved it

Easy to use for toddler.

Grandchild loves this toy so much, from Age 3 to 4 and still going.

Item was delivered and had been used before by someone else: the screw that holds the battery cover was so badly damaged already that it was impossible to unscrew it. Useless item and the return window was closed a while ago since i got it in advance for my daughter for christmas.

I bought the same one with the Bible stories and my sons loved it so I bought this one too. They definitely don't pick this one up as often though. A lot of the stories and songs are not the classic versions.

Better off to spend bit extra to get a better reader
