5 button Remote Car Key Shell Case for Land Rover Discovery 4 / Freelander for Sport/Evoque

So, whilst this is a really good replacement... it was tricky to install due to the fact that the one i got had two little black pins inside that were preventing me from inserting the inner key chip. I had to snap these off to allow me to replace.However, it's a really good replacement. My original keys have a soft silicone type coating but this was peeling off, hence the replacement. This key cover does not have the silicone. I've read some comments saying that the buttons didn't work properly etc? However i have had no issues. In fact the buttons feel better than on my original key.I was worried that the silver strip might be plastic but it's not, it's definitely metal.

The rubber cover on my old key has been peeling off and seems to be getting worse day by day. It didn't affect the function but look tatty and I was worried that if I got caught out in the rain, the key would probably be ruined.I was slightly cautious about buying a non-standard replacement but I've not been disappointed. The front cover is plastic rather than the nice tactile rubber. Not sure whether this will make it more robust or less in the long run. But apart from that, it looks almost identical to the original. You can easily tell the difference when you look at them side-by-side, but when you look at the key on its own, you really would not notice.Moving the electronics from the old key to the new one was easy. The only difficult bit was releasing a couple of securing fixings in the old key. This took a small pair of wire cutters for me to achieve.Despite this, the transfer took less than ten minutes.

Not quite a exact replica internally but my circuit board fitted in nicely with no problems . Please note this item is just the shell of the original and you must transplant the internals from your old one into this which should take no more than a few seconds and don’t forget to swap you emergency key blade over

Quality item, all printed circuit unit fitted perfectly. Note: the instructions tell you to use a lighter to remove or soften the plastic posts holding the inside unit! Not a great idea right next to a printed circuit! So i used a small scalpel/ craft knife just to remove the top of the post, the new outer shell has these posts ready to push the printed circuit onto. Otherwise very pleased with the replacement case.

Update **** I went today to my local Range Rover dealer and I get the shell cover replaced plus a new battery for £15******Really dissapointed and frustrated. I bought this hoping to give a make over to my old second car's keyfob, which is in really bad condition. So frustrated as it looks ok but once tried to use it buttons doesn't work, they get stuck and not respond. I have read so many good comments but for me is a no. Returned.

Changed over electronics which is relatively simple except that the little black pins break off and then there's nothing to hold the circuit board down onto the new base.Checked but unlock button won't work. It works when I take the back off and press and works if I just press the tiny button on the circuit board but not when fully assembled. Is there a solution to this??I bought two but reluctannt to strip the second old key (which works OK but is tatty) unless I get an answer to the problem. If no answer then I'll just send them both back.

Bought for 2017 Range Rover Sport as the original key condition was poor, the silicone cover etc was peeling off.I opened the new shell replacement and transplanted the electronics inside it and it was a great fit. Looks perfect and better than the original I must say.I had to fiddle around with the fitment slightly due to the internal black holder which sits on top of the pins, with this in place, the unlock button does not press down as the gap is too tight. Having removed the internal black holder/cover on the pins, it worked a dream and makes no difference to it not being there.Would definitely recommend.

Great value replacement key case for Range Rover keys. Looks exactly like the original. The plastic part of the case is a slightly different material but feels good and functions well. It was necessary to cut a couple of plastic parts inside the key to fit the original key's circuit board but this was straight forward and may not be required for some circuit boards (ours was for a 2016 model). Once assembled the key works perfectly. A great value solution for damaged Range Rover key cases.
