Dragon Ball (VIZBIG Edition), Vol. 2

Love the oversized version. The art is amazing, the story is classic. Cannot go wrong buying this one.

These VIZBIG editions for Dragon Ball are a wonderful option. They pack three of the regular volumes in one book (except for the last book of each series: book 5 of the VIZBIG edition for Dragon Ball includes 4 volumes while book 9 of the VIZBIG edition for Dragon Ball Z includes only the last 2 volumes) in a larger format (kanzenban, instead of tankoubon) with full-color pages in some chapters (these selected chapters are entirely colored). Also, they're cheaper than trying to buy each tankoubon separately: each tankoubon is roughly $7.95 (Amazon price), whereas each VIZBIG kanzenban is about $12.20. Considering Dragon Ball is 16 volumes (tankoubon) long but only 5 kanzenban long, and Dragon Ball Z is 26 volumes (tankoubon) long but only 9 kanzenban long, well... You do the math.The only caveat is, obviously, that the VIZBIG books are quite bulky: there could be more risk of damage from shipping and the books will fill a lot of space in your backpack if your planning to take them with you anywhere. Also, they're quite heavy and could make reading unconfortable: I read them while lying down on my bed, so I put a pillow over my belly to support the book while reading, otherwise my wrists would hurt after a while from the weight of the book. I also read them while riding the subway and it was quite difficult (definitely no stand-up reading), but I managed. Even with these nuances, I still think the books deserve 5 stars: the printing and binding (very important for such heavy books) are top-notch.Some people complain about the translation because apparently it uses too much childish jargon, but I didn't find it annoying at all. Maybe there are better options for sociolinguistic register, but I can't really vouch for that, as my Japanese is not good enough to read the original manga. For the same reason, I can't confirm if the Viz edition really got censored (I went online for a quick check of some fan scanlations, but couldn't tell if there are actually redrawn panels).Of course, if you're a collector, you might aim for the original tankoubon. Well, that task may prove a bit difficult, as, apparently, Viz is realeasing sort of a new edition of the tankoubon. I haven't confirmed this, but if it's true, soon the 1st edition volumes (the red ones for Dragon Ball -the kanzenban are yellow- and white ones for Dragon Ball Z -the kanzenban are red-) will be rare items soaring through the skies.In all, I really think this was a very nice investment. I don regret it in the least and I actually recommend it strongly.

Must-have for fans and newcomers. It features larger, beautifully bound volumes with crisp, vibrant artwork by Akira Toriyama. The story follows Goku’s journey from a young martial artist to a powerful fighter, filled with action, humor, and memorable characters. The edition also includes color pages and bonus content, making it a fantastic, high-quality collection.

Wow, it was much better than I expected!Me and my girlfriend are fans of Dragonball Z, and were looking for the Dragonball Manga collection to collect. After some research (so you don't have to do it!) we found this one to be the best, and it delivered! Much bigger than I expected and the pages are thick enough and the art is high quality as well. It has a bendable cover but sturdy for sure, not flimsy.There's in total FIVE parts to this series, each containing 3 issues. Which is PERFECT in my opinion - doesn't take as much space. If you're looking to collect the mangas than this one is 100% the right start with - other issues tend to be smaller and more flimsy. Price (11-15 dollars) is excellent as well and worth it.

Another great volume mae with colored artwork an bigger pages.Reading This is really like like watching an uncut version of the T.V show.This truly is a great manga.I honestly advise any Dragonball fan to get something like this.This is a truly great improvement from the original manga.Just anyone who likes a humerous,action-packed, and adventure book will truly enjoy this book and the rest of the series of not only Dragonball but as well try Dragonball Z!This book is a must to anyone who is a collector or any harcore fan of the Dragonball series.

This book is awesome! Well worth $3 more than the normal 3-in-1 dragon ball books. The reason I give it 4 stars is because this book came with one of the corners bent and scratches on the back. I have read a review that says the binding isn’t strong, I haven’t used it enough to prove that so no issues with the binding so far. This book comes with much better paper quality than the normal 3-in-1s and some pages are even colored! I think the vizbig 3-in-1s are the way to go because they give you good value and it’s a great size to bring on a long road trip because it’s compact for 3 volumes while still being taller and more enjoyable to read than normal single volumes. All in all great book, buy it!!Oh and the story is amazing too

If you are a Dragonball fan, you already know how awesome the series is. I'm a writer so I'm very particular about the condition of my books. These came in mint condition even with my extremely rough mailmen (I've gotten boxes with horrible dented corners and large holes in it). Love the art and the story is even better than the show (they include a little more). Great seller and fast shipping!
