Works great, pairs easily
I got this to go along with my Edge 130 bike GPS. It pairs automatically and reliably as soon as I put it on. (works best if the chest strap is on before the GPS is powered-up)When I got a Garmin GPS watch later, it also worked well with it.It uses a single CR2032 lithium coin cell battery, which is easy to change; check YouTube for videos on how. You'll only need to refer to it once. After a few wearings, I just bring it into the shower with me to get the sweat & salt out of the strap covering. It's well sealed against moisture.

Best of the Best
This HR Monitor is the best of the best. The strap is comfortable and well made. The HR is accurate and responsive. Best of all - no more charging it after every use. I simply shower with it on and shampoo and soap it up and it stays nice and clean and sanitary. This is a no-brainer. Just buy it - you won’t regret it.

Accurate, Comfortable, and Essential for Serious Training!
The Garmin HRM-Pro is an outstanding heart rate monitor! I’ve been using it for several weeks now, and I’m truly impressed by its performance. The chest strap is comfortable and lightweight, and I barely notice it during long workouts. The heart rate data is incredibly accurate, providing real-time insights into my training intensity. It syncs easily with my Garmin watch and other devices, and I love that it also tracks running dynamics, like cadence and ground contact time. The battery life is excellent, and the HRM-Pro stores data when I’m out of range, so I never miss a beat.If you're serious about your fitness and need precise heart rate monitoring, this is a must-have. Highly recommend for runners, cyclists, or anyone looking to optimize their training!

Updated: Died after ~18mo of daily use. Be careful with battery changes.
Update (8/22): Contacted Garmin Support dept and they replaced the HRM-pro for free. Explained what happened and provided proof of purchase (~6mo outside factory warranty period) and they sent a link for a no-charge order for a new unit. Upgraded to 5 stars for the customer service.Original review (~6/22): I'm a garmin fr935 watch user and avid runner. I bought this as a better & more reliable means of tracking HR than the ohr/optical sensor on the forerunner series. The watch based ohr readings would fluctuate based on watch band tightness, wrist location, and weather (skin temperature?).This hrm-pro was much more reliable with the added bonus of the running dynamics metrics. I wore this pretty much daily since Feb '21 for ~1hr/day. The Connect app battery meter for this was a joke and I never saw it go lower than 100% full. I read about the battery change process potentially leading to early failures but thought I was pretty careful in the process. I changed the battery on this ~3-4 times since new but the last time was likely the killer.A small crack developed on the base plastic near one of the screw mounting points that must have caused a leak. Washed it recently, let it dry then no more pairing. Opened it up and noticed condensation in the battery compartment so decided that it was terminal enough to do "major" surgery to investigate. The pictures tell the story:water got in behind the main board and shorted out some components. Maybe if I washed this without the battery in (cover on) and then let it dry out I could have got a few more months out of it? This seems to be a pretty common problem with these series of garmin hrm units (pro, tri, run, etc) so buyer beware.

Superior
I had a chest strap from the other big name brand previously and this is superior in every way, at least if you have a Garmin watch. The strap paired instantly with the connect app and with my Forerunner 265. When I start a run, the chest strap is detected very quickly - much more quickly than the other brand. So far, it has been glitch free. The extra metrics you get with the strap in Garmin connect are pretty cool too. The strap is definitley more comfortable than the other brand and seems to have a little bit more room for larger runners as well.

Great accuracy - HRV support - Not easy to change battery - Closing system OK, prone to slipping
I have several HR straps, and the Garmin is great when used with Garmin devices. Like the Polar H10, it has great HR accuracy, supports HRV RR.The Garmin strap has also several features specific to Garmin devices: you can wear it instead of the watch to record your HR, and have synced to the watch later. You can start an activity, take the watch off, and then download the HR to the watch later (useful when the activity makes it cumbersome to wear a watch - think martial arts, for example). The strap also sends running power and pace to the watch, as well as running dynamics. Among the running dynamics features, I found the left/right ground contact balance very useful. There are 3 drawbacks in my experience, compared with the Polar H10:- calibrating the strap for pace is not easy, and I didn't manage to do it properly yet. The process works, but when I run again on the same treadmill, the distance is still significantly off, despite the GPS automatic calibration done when running outside, and doing a manual calibration.- the garmin strap is not as practical. You cannot change it separately. It doesn't stick as well to the skin as the Polar H10. Finally, the closing system is an open hook. When you adjust it after it slipped, it can get completely loose. A mess if you are exercising...- changing the battery is not easy. You can easily damage the o-ring and the strap will deteriorate very fast. Note that this issue has been address with the HRM-Pro Plus, the newer model. When the strap wears out, I doubt I will replace it. I know I will forego some excellent integration with the garmin watches.

Garmin HR Chest strap
Got this for about $100. Is comfortable to wear while cycling. Syncs with my Garmin edge 840 cycling computer. Have used this for about 15 months. Had to replace the battery after about a year. Would buy again.
