Signal stuck? Fix it yourself and save tons of money!
My family has a 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and recently as we were making a left turn something broke and the left signal was stuck on even if you click the lever back to center or click all the way up for right turn signal. Luckily, I Googled the problem and one guy had the exact same issue and mentioned he bought this part from Amazon. As far as installation, the hard part is getting the steering column plastic cover off in order to access the part. From underneath the bottom steering cover, 2 screws are close to the front of the steering wheel + 1 more screw toward the left away from the steering wheel that is deep at the end of a long tunnel of plastic.Replacing the part itself is a 5 minute breeze. There are 2 tiny screws holding it to the left side of steering column on the top and bottom. It slides off easily and besides that you just need to remove a couple of electrical connectors, which logically one controls the lighting and one controls the signal. Of course, do the reverse to install the new part.In the end, I tested our Mitsu's lighting and turn signals and everything works perfectly. In comparison, this part looks exactly like the orignal OEM one. Cheapest OEM runs $91 online. Dealer wanted almost $400 parts and labor while my cost wound up being around $44 with tax. Hopefully it will last. I am so happy and thankful that we could save this money. Thanks, Standard Motor and thanks Amazon.
