Lots of character
I have used many different iterations of Khadi paper, including loose pages and different sizes of sketchbooks, and never been disappointed. The paper is gorgeously handmade with deckled edges. There are occasional fibers in it and the paper is quite rough compared to other brands in this price range. The sketchbooks are well-bound. I've never had a problem with the stitching.I use this paper with pen and watercolor and in plein air or urban sketching situations. Khadi paper absorbs a lot of water, so it can be used wet on wet with multiple layers of paint. For the sketchbooks, I just use a binder clip to hold the pages down and then paint to my heart's content.

Far from Arches or Saunders Waterford
- It's a great sketchbook.- It's sturdy and very good looking if you like the handcrafted look.- The pages are thick enough to hold water without warping, and to paint on both side ! but it's also soft and thin enough to bend easily when you touch them.- The paper has some texture, not quite like a cold pressed paper but still. It looks like a cold press with a thin soft layer of cotton over it.- keep in mind the paper has the handcrafted look too. It is warm, with some visible fibers in it. I like it, but that doesn't work well with everything.- I like the format.BUT:- the paper is very delicate, too delicate!- if you're used to lift or wash your paint on Arches or Saunders, it will be very frustrating. the very thin and soft top layer of the paper will just peel off as soon as you scrub it. you will have to adapt a lot your technique to the paper.> if you put some tape on it (artist tape. I tried 4 different brands), that same thin layer will peel off every time, revealing the cotton fibers below. also very frustrating.Overall it's a very good product. when I look a my painted pages after a while, I'm satisfied. But I don't think I'll buy it again because it's too frustrating to me to adapt my "technique" to this specific paper. If you're not expecting something close to Arches, I recommend it.

Great product but came damaged
I love these sketchbook and khadi paper, however the one I ordered here came damaged on the corners of the cover and paper, which is pretty frustrating given the price of this thing. Hopefully I can at least get a replacement.

Good watercolor sketchbook
The "smooth" has tooth, but that is okay -- it is not like a hot pressed paper. The journal is still holding up to wear and tear after the first few weeks, so that is good. It is different paper and I am trying to get used to it. Here is a close up of a detail of the watercolor and ink on the paper.BTW, the person who is incensed because the cost is so high -- the ones at Jackson's appear to be half the number of pages.
