Beautiful layout; interesting articles
I'm not sure if "Made By Robots" is a part of a periodical series or if it is a standalone but if it is a periodical, I think I want to subscribe.Guest edited by Fabio Gramazio and Matthias Kohler (cool names if this were a sci-fi movie) and with several contributors, this is a book with several articles on how robotics is changing architecture in form, design, output, construction. It isn't just an interesting book (very technical and yes, I had to read it slowly and ask my son for assistance; he loves this stuff so it comes more naturally to him) but the graphical layout of the articles are striking. As noted, I didn't read this book quickly. I had to take my time with each chapter (I mean, the subtitle of one chapter is "Experiments Fictions Epistemology" and I had to look up 'epistemology' to see if that was a real world) and in some articles, the text is not just wordy, but techy-wordy, yet while some of it went over my head, all of the articles were fascinating (my favorite article was "Integrating Robotic Fabrication in the Design Process" because it seemed the article where everything came together and not surprisingly the image on the cover of the book comes from this article).Really glad I had the opportunity to select this book. It is geared toward the tech savvy in the world of architecture and engineering but if you have an interest in technology and an appreciation for architecture, this is worth a look or two.

Robots Building?
I'm not an architect, but I am an architecture enthusiast. I'm also interested in 3D printing, which this books talks about as well. For an enthusiast or artist, this book has a lot of good information and makes you want to know more about buildings made by robots. There are alot of industry words that might be hard for a layman to understand, but it didn't put me off.For people in the business, it seems like it would enthuse and inspire new designs using computer/robot technology that can be used in practical application.I liked reading about their studies with silk worms and swarm construction, looking at nature to discover new building techniques. It was also neat to read about the history of robotics in construction. What had already been in effect and where we're moving on to.This book convinced me that new, innovative ways can be designed to save resources while still providing for safe structures. However, this aspect also frightens me. Yes, it seems like it will make building and construction more efficient, but will it cost jobs for those in the industry? Less accidents and higher productivity is a good thing, but also... will skyscrapers/built by robots be able to withstand earthquakes like ours are supposed to?As you can tell, the big thing this book accomplished was to open my mind to question. Nice book to have in my architecture library.

Very satisfied
If you purchase this, you most likely know what you re getting into.As usual AD doesn t go into details but more into the philosophy and the overall theory.Again not my first AD, so I can t complain about the content which is very relevant if you re into digital production. The book arrived without a scratch!
