Got this car to add to the set my son got for his 2nd birthday a few months ago. Bell car works well with the set and contrary to some reviewers I think the bell is just the right volume. It's not super loud but you can hear it when you are playing with the toy or in the same room. Quite frankly, I think it would be annoying if it were louder.

Doesn’t ring but it’s cute
My toddler likes it and appreciates that it’s a bell for the train. But it doesn’t ring at all. Which I guess is good for the annoying factor. But I bought it in hopes that it would make noise.

No bell ring sound with use
Love the idea of this rain car. Got it for my toddler but when it goes, there is minimal to no sound of the bell ringing. Hardly a tap tap on either side. Would not recommend.

got this based on previous orders for Brio Trains things but - even though it looks to be the same best quality - the actual function of this bell ringer leaves a lot to be desired. it does have bell and it does have two clangers, one on either side of the bell, and they both do move as the wheels turn as the little car is dragged along, but basically there is no sound. And, it seems that the clangers get synchronized to tap at the same time and cancel each other out. i've taken time to turn the wheels so that the clangers are a half cycle different from each other but that never lasts. Oh Well. We're KEEPING it though since it looks so cool and since my boys argue over who's train it can roll in - but besides that, it's nothing special at all.

Cute but overpriced
Great addition for a train lover, my 4yo loves it but it's way overpriced for one little train. The bell doesn't make a lot of noise, some but not as much as some may want. I personally wouldn't have spent 15$ on this (it was a gift from grandma) this train is worth maybe 5-8$
