Woodland Scenics Mountain Valley Scenery Kit

Great kit but not for the faint of heart :) The sheer amount of time this kit has saved me by having almost everything I needed in one box, I needed to add some grass, bushes and water effects, but overall this is an awesome purchase both for people that want to get into this hobby and don’t know when to start and even more experienced hobbiesest can learn some cool new techniques from this kit.

Well worth the money. Woodland scenic thought of everything in this kit.. if you went out and purchase everything separate, it would be a couple hundred bucks. I’m just amazed at what they did for this kit at this price..

Overall this kit is everything it purports to be. It shows the steps and techniques needed and contains most of the materials required to build a simple flat track layout with a mountain and tunnel. I easily adapted it to N scale and am even using the techniques to add some features. If you have the time and the patience (I assume you do if you're wanting to build a model railroad), this is a very good beginner's kit.

Very nice, well thought out, however do yourself a favor and throw all the glue they send away.

Good instructions with many of the components needed to build a good mountain scenery for an HO scale layout. Easily customized to suit the needs of the individual layout design. As others have said, the glue provided is water based, so gluing together cardboard pieces is not the best use of this glue, so hot-glue was used when connecting cardboard components. Also used shredded paper instead of newspaper clumps (who has newspaper these days) for the terrain build-up.

I'm about half way done with the model but wanted to show how good it looks. I'm not a very artistic person and I still found this kit easy to use. If you follow the instructions you'll end up with a very nice looking model. The only issue I had was how to get the tunnel to fit properly inside the mountain but after some trimming it worked just fine (it was probably just me but again I'm not extremely artistic so I was happy to make it work and it look good). I'm excited now to do some more work and add some flair to it.

It looks a lot more complicated then it is. You do need backer board that you can get at any hobby shop but once you start it simple. We changed the entire layout and used this as a good starter set of material. Not doing this before I was not sure what to get so it helped.

This product is NOT FOR BEGINNERS! The product is misleading and the fine print is difficult to read when looking at the product picture online and trying to read the print on the box. This is a kit and you have to build the scene. This kit provides the modeling materials only! My son has used some of the stuff from this kit, but we did not recreate the image on the box. This is for advanced model builders.

good takes a bit of work but a great craft project for my daughter and me. Instead of the cardboard I used plywood, real rocks and made paper mache from shredded paer instead of paper clumps - lot more work but much better than using cardboard and folded paper.

The product wasn't what I expected.
