do women wear this cologne?

YSL M7 Oud Absolu is a severe wood fragrance with a strong projection. Although there are fragrances for women which offer agarwood (oud) as the primary note, this is not one of them. I think only a very mannish woman could carry this off (i.e. a woman who likes to revisit the "Annie Hall" look of the late '70's might feel comfortable in this). The other elements appearing here (patchouli, myrrh, mandarin, French labdanum) which might have mitigated this effect in another oriental, woody fragrance are pulled into this "black hole" of oud and seem to reappear as spagettified "ghosts" in the dry down. Even a man who is contemplating purchasing this should have acquired some sense for what oud is before attempting to wear YSLM7OA. Not for beginners, it is a very dark, sophisticated and masculine attar designed by Tom Ford in 2002 and then reintroduced as part of the YSL "La Collection". Most reviews of YSLM7OA I have read seem to think this reinterpretation smells the same as the original but I can't attest to that because I never smelled the original release. I would never blind buy this for anyone unless I knew his or her tastes very well. Even though I am in love with YSLM7OA and have never regretted adding it to my collection there are days when the thought of its absolute, unrelenting version of oud makes me abandon the idea of actually wearing it on my body. Oud is just like that.

IMO the best OUD Cologne available.

I love this cologne. I have Creeds Oud and it is very floral with little woodsy scents, also have Versaces Oud and it too is very flowery. YSL hit it on the head with the M7 absolute. Great combination of spicy/woodsy scents. M7 drives my wife crazy, her favorite on me by far, Second in my line up is Creed's Aventus. I love the way M7 blends in with my natual body odor, get many compliments.

Awesome!

At this price for an oud fragrance it is the best price point I have found! I do not know what the original M-7 smells like but this reorchestration smells absolutely devine! It lasts all day and projects well.

Good cologne

Smells good, it's a mature scent but none the less its mysterious, sexy and has lasting power. Last all day! The reason 4 stars and not 5 is that I also bought Creed's Royal oud. And that cologne is my new all time favorite!!! So M7 is great but compared to royal oud??? No comparison hands down Creed's oud scent! But the M7 is $54 and Royal oud's $350. I am happy to have this cologne in my collection!

Not Oud Absolu – This is the original M7 2002 version.

Be careful! This is not M7 Oud Absolu by YSL, but the original M7 from 2002. The packaging and scent are different. While Oud Absolu is smoother, more modern, and easier to wear with its sweeter and cleaner profile, the original M7 is darker, stronger, and more medicinal with a heavier oud note. If you’re expecting Oud Absolu, you’ll be disappointed.

I have gotten imitations last few times I ordered from different companys with amazon. The m7 oud absolu is genuin and a great price. This company and fragranceX I would trust. The new m7 oud is great smells like fine congac. Very close to. M7 reformulated.

Cheap. I don't like the fragrance, mayyou will.

Looking for Tom Ford alternatives. This one is too sweet for my liking. Good price, just not my cup of tea.

Very true to what the .com review sites suggest. Long lasting, similar to L'Instant Extreme but with more body/bravado, the woody, oud note stays with you. I can still smell this when I get in the shower the next morning....maybe just on the skin, but after 24 hours...strong.
