Create Your Own Destiny: 8 Keys To A More Fulfilling Life (Lucky 8 Series Book) Review: Solid advice and a fast read for a younger audience. - Julian does a great job distilling down 8 keys that lead people to more fulfilling lives. Who can argue with mandates of knowing when to say no or not obsessing over material things? All solid advice. (I had never heard of the notion that people have, on average, 25,000 total days to their lives and to calculate where you are on that scale can help to motivate you each and every day as that clock ticks down - eek.) He also shares quite a few personal stories to support each point and you quickly learn that he was challenged many times in his youth (much more than many of us, perhaps) and was able to not only process and move onward, but that those (some might say) traumatic events ended up informing much of this current work. I appreciate the author's willingness to share his own life's struggles - but I do wish he might've supported each key with examples from a slightly larger palette. I feel this book is currently geared toward a younger audience who may just be heading into adulthood and who may not have heard a lot of this type of sage advice yet. Review: This very, very short book is a winner - This book is too short because it has such an astounding spirit in it. It needs to be longer. It’s a book with an endearing sincerity in it. It’s an expression directly from the heart. His telling of the heartbreaking story of his boyhood, his relationship with his mother and step-father, are full of soul and love. He has experienced enormous, life-changing losses of his parents and provides his recipe for being a good Phoenix to rise up out of the ashes of grief to be good, healthy, productive, caring and happy. His very, very short book is teeming with excellent personal anecdotes that reveal important lessons. He does the amusing computations about the time on our hands: how many days in a lifetime to achieve something; how many minutes in a day to fit everything in; how many seconds in an hour to make goals. His advice has an earnestness to it which makes me think that every single adolescent should read this book. A little editing would make a gem sparkle still more. This is a wonderful little book. Write another, and then another, Mr. Glasser.

Meditation, the gateway to yourself
This was an interesting and quick read. The author provided many personal anecdotes to help relay his points, which I found very helpful. The writing style was honest, light, and comical. There were two main keys that stood out to me. First was about time and how we only have so much time to experience our lives. Keeping that idea in the upper most of my mind is helpful as a reminder to choose to make the most of each moment and let go of anything that is not so important in the grand scheme of my life and those around me. The second main key that stood out to me was meditation. Making time for this valuable practice is key. I personally place it near the top of my priority list. The benefits of meditation are countless. When I connect with my inner most self to begin my day, I tend to have a light and grateful attitude as I go throughout my day. This is a great read for young adults.

Great and insightful book
I like how the author related his messages to personal life experiences. I also liked his explanations and reasons for choosing the topics he did. Finally, I like how he made the book fun with humor and motivation. I would definitely recommend this book. It was easy to stay interested, I read it cover to cover without a break.

Quick read with the right message
Create your own destiny is a quick read with powerful messages about how to be happier and to live a fulfilled life. Inspired by the author's biography, Julian Glasser shares what he has learned to turn his life around and to get the maximum out of his time on planet earth. I could relate a lot with the lessons shared in this book, however there were little new insights for me, as I am a frequent reader of self-help books. I recommend this book to a younger audience, especially students.

Good advice
I found this book to encourage some good principles. It read fast and easily. A few typos but not too distracting. I think this would be a good introductory one to read for young adults starting out after high school or during college, if they aren't already used to reading self-help, advise type books. It's a good starting point.

Short, to the point. Author went through trying times. Could use editing
The voice of the book is too light hearted for my taste. And the writer breaks the barrier and calls attention to himself, aslo oftne a new technique but I don't think it worked. The book and the words need to go through an editing process, to get rid of redundancies, errors (only here and there) and to make the wording work better. The advivce in this book is overall good - but seems like what you would get everywhere else. You can tell how young the writer is, not just because the writer says it, but because the way he talks about the world is demonstrative of not having true life experience. Most importantly, the author went through some seriously trying times, with different deaths in the family. Some of these parts are what needs to be editing (for clariy and other things). As a short book, this is worth the read - first pull up a preview and make sure the voice works for you. If it does, this will be Amazing for you. I'm rating on the following scale: 1 star - Horrible 2 stars - Mediocre 3 stars - Good / Serviceable 4 stars - Very good 5 stars - Mind Blowing amazing.
