Really moves the air
In the open air you can hear the fan. However, we must highlight the fan really moves thecair! We are happy with fan performance overall. For our application we will keep an eye out for a four inch fan that is quieter and moves similar air, while also looking for one that is rated for continuous duty. We want to stress our use case is not an air bilge pump... as an air bilge this fan should be fantastic!!

Amazing for swamp air conditioner
After watching some YouTube videos on different swamp ac builds, I saw this one used to make a few. The blower is amazing for this purpose. I know this is not the intended use but wow. My car was so cold I had to turn it off. I have had several people see this in my car and ask about it and I have all recommended this blower for it.

Not much quieter
I purchased this to replace a generic blower that was used to evacuate the humid air out of the shower. I can say that the air volume increased over the manufacturer's one. But, the noise level is just as loud as the old one. The frequency of the noise is just higher. I even used Dynamax sound pads under and over the new fan and isolated the feet on rubber. So, for what it's worth, the fan is a better air mover but it shouldn't be labeled quiet.Update a year later. It's still loud but it's growing quieter. Almost like the bearing needed to seat in from use. I'm adding a star for the air moving ability. It really helps with mildew and to dry the shower. Good fan
I have two of these installed on my 2021 pioneer 1000-5 to push heat out of the engine compartment in the summer and into the cab in winter.

Good Stuff
This is my second unit like this. I bought one years ago and it still works great. I plan to mount this one on my lawn mower to blow dust and dirt and gnats out of my face.

Powerful fan
This is a great fan that puts out alot of air! Other, same sized fans may be rated for simular CFM, but due to the way they put the fan in the housing, the acutal flow rate can be a small fraction of what they advertise.I first purchased a cheaper copy of this exact size fan, but the manufacturers did not properly "copy" the device. They can cut the ends of the fan blades to make it fit in a 4" housing. It put out very little air. So I returned it and bought this fan. This fan puts out about 20 times the air that previous one I purchased! This SEAFLO fan is professionally engineered and does really put out the air.Even when I had to use a reducer to reduce the pipe to a 1.25" diam pipe, it still put out amazing air flow. (The other fan put out practicallly zero when I reduced the pipe diameter). The noise level is what I would expect for this powerful of fan - maybe a little quiter than what I'd expect.Good job SEAFLO!(I did not recieve any compenstation for this review. Click if this was helpful. Thanks.)

Moves a Lot of Air -- Not a Bit Quiet
Granted I bought this fan for an alternative use, making a custom carbon air filter where I needed a quiet in-line blower fan that could move 270cfm or so. But what I found was this fan motor is definitely not the "ultra-quiet" it is so heavily advertised as. With ambient 42 decibels I measured this fan at full bore 12.1v, 54w, a screaming 91db. It's easily as loud as a hair dryer. It moves a lot of air and if its buried in your boat's engine room you probably wont notice much but if you're looking for a truly quiet blower fan you might look elsewhere. On the plus side it does move a lot of air, in fact I measured 520cfm, almost double what was advertised. This was with no ducts connected which probably improves air speed from their measurements.
