Trusted protection
Clamping voltage 330. Joules are more about how many hits the unit can take. Clamping voltage is about how high the voltage will be allowed to spike. Many units with high joule ratings have a higher clamping voltage but it is the spike that fries your equipment, not the joules, and this has an excellent rating for clamping voltage. Units are small enough to be unobtrusive. It has LED lights to let you know things are working properly and when to replace. And Tripp Lite is all my IT company trusts to protect electronics. Never once had to use their guarantee against failure - they don't fail. Design is cool - you can put wall warts on the bottom inputs so you don't lose real estate to big transformers. Reasonable price for peace of mind.

This is the one you want.
Reading reviews for surge protectors makes me think people should not be allowed access to electricity, much less internet reviews. The joule rating is for how big of a surge it will stop. You want a high number. If your plugs look like they'll fit in these holes, that's all you need to know. Yes, there are factors like clamping speed and clamping amps, but if you actually need to know that stuff, a "surge protector" isn't what you want anyway. This is for when you need to plug in a bunch of stuff that's worth some money and only have one outlet. Period. This one also comes with insurance on connected devices. It works like it should, isn't bigger than it needs to be, and has outlets on the side, so you can populate the thing with larger plugs and transformers without losing neighboring outlets.

Quality surge protector
After searching for a lot of surge protectors both in Amazon and in physical stores, I believe this is THE best one for the price, clamping and amount of joules it tolerates, by far. Plenty of other reviews explain it better, but basically you *need* the clamping voltage to be as low as possible if you want to actually protect your stuff from power spikes (briefly put it's how much voltage it takes for the strip to detect the surge as such). This one is L-N 330 V - L-G 400 V - N-G 400 V, as low as it can get without the price getting ridiculous. Not only that, but there's plenty of surge "protectors" out there with bigger clamping numbers that cost more. Then there's the joules, which is how much the surge protector will tolerate before turning into a power strip. This number isn't important for the protection of your connected devices, but for its durability before replacement (which you should do if, again, you want to actually protect your stuff).

Great value
This surge protector blocks the most joules for the buck. Nice long cord. The outlets are all usable because there are two on the sides for the larger AC adapters so they don't block the other outlets.

Good, could be improved...
Bought 2 of these. One for a new PC Build and one for general use. Pro's: The right angle plug is very handy and a must when putting cords behind bookcases, furniture, etc. Safe and reliable. Con's: Cord Length: I wish they sold this model in other cord lengths. Sometimes a 7' cord is way too much. A 3' or 4' cord option would be great for places where one just doesn't need the extra cord. I know I could go with an off brand, but have had way too much success with Tripp Lite to change. Switch: As stated by other reviewer's, the switch can easily be shut off by mistake, and I agree that Tripp Lite needs to address this issue. Incident: I mistakenly put one of these by my birds cage and accidentally spilled some water into the outlets. I immediately unplugged it from the wall, shook it out and tried to dry the best I could. I started to remove the screws to take the strip apart (so I could make sure all was dry) but found that Tripp Lite had used three regular Phillips screws and three one way security screws which forbid me from opening it up. I can understand that Tripp Lite does not want to let anyone void their warranty and not be able to open it as a result, but in my case I had spilled water which already voided my ability to return it. I let the strip dry out for a few days, and plugged it back in and it works, so I got lucky. The ground and protected lights are both on. Whew. :)

Great Power Strip
I keep coming back to this power strip again and again. Slowly replacing the other power strips in my house. Looks good, construction quality feels nice and the side outlets are very convenient for weird shaped power supplies. Will buy this again.

Love the way they work!
After losing all of my electronics via a lightning strike, I wanted to make sure I had a surge protector that would protect me. I found out after the damage that my surge protector was too old to work as a surge protector. It had transitioned to being merely a power strip without any indication that it's ability to protect was gone. I found a review online about the Tripp Lite surge protectors & I liked the description of their operation so much, I bought 3 - one a 10 outlet & two 7 outlet surge protectors. Tripp Lite got my business when I read that they designed their surge protectors to shut down once their ability to protect is gone. Small surges over a long period of time (5 years or so) will degrade the ability to protect against a large surge later. What just happened to me is not going to happen again due to an old surge protector.

Great product.
I just retired from I.T. I have been buying these surge protectors for the company for a decade. They hold up well and have enough outlets to run a full work station. The only way I would buy something else is if I needed USB charging.
