As I like this book, I gifted it to my relative. Very happy as it's useful to practice Weblogic. The narration style is very good. Kudos to Sam Alapati. It's useful for Upgrading my certification to 12c

Most of the book is about managing WebLogic on Windows server. You might be hosed if yours is a Unix/LinUX environment?

The book is claimed to be based on the latest 12.1.2 release at the time of publication. Why does the author write that "Oracle recommends that you use the JRockit JVM for production installations because of the many benefits it offers, including higher performance, increased scalability, and better manageability when compared to the Sun HotSpot JVM"? Oracle does not even support JRockit for use with Weblogic 12.1.2. Is it possible to make a more thorough technical review for the new edition since it looks like pieces of text had just been copied and pasted from the Weblogic 11g edition without being checked?

If you want detailed information on how to install, deploy or generally use Weblogic, look somewhere else. Despite its title, this book is geared primarily for programmer API purposes.

The book deals in depth with the many features of Oracle's middleware. The only thing to be desired is that it focuses on the Windows environment (ignoring the Linux environment), and does not include the details of the most complete version of WebLogic. It is still an excellent reference source.

It has very well explanation about all the topics, maybe in some topics its a little overview but it's clearly and it's a good book to start in weblogic
