Great "Dumble" style Pedal
Haven't spent a lot of time with this yet as I just received it today. However, within 15 minutes of plugging in I was able to get a great tone. I would be willing to say there's a lot af great tones to be had with this one. I played two different SSS Strats through it, one with Fender Hot singles, and one with stock Squire Vibe coils. Both sounded great. I then plugged in my Les Paul with Gibson Burst buckers and only needed to tweak the tone and voice a little as it was slightly dark and muddy with the settings I had for the Strats. Only took a minute to get it back to that sweet spot. I don't have any other "Dumble" type, or low gain pedals to compare it to, but I can't imagine one being any better for my taste. Well worth the money.

Affordable thrash!
Affordable, great sounding pedal, even if you have an old crappy amp. Turned my old cheap guitar and amp into a bonefide thrash rig. Probably not the best on the market, but if you're looking to shred in your garage or something, it's great.

Subtle and cost-effective
Phasers are one of my fave effects, and they really do come in many flavors. After comparing with the MXR Script Phase 90 and the EHX Small Stone, I find that the Stax mini compares closest to the MXR Phase 90 (my long time favorite), and pays homage to the MXR with the distinct adobe orange color in the graphics. It is ever so slightly more subtle than the MXR, allowing slightly more of the guitar's dry signal into the mix than the MXR does. The Stax unit features a color switch that selects between "vintage" and "modern" tones. Normally I think this would maybe choose between an 8 stage phaser and a 12 stage phaser (or other combination), but to my ears the "vintage mode" simulated the Phase 90 while the "modern mode" added some gain to the signal, giving the phaser a little overdrive under it, much like the early Boss CH-1 Super Chorus does. The Stax Phaser is all metal construction; switches feel solid, and the rate potentiometer feels nice and smooth with the proper resistance. Internals are printed circuit; not surprising as phaser is a common circuit and easily reproducible. The compact size and inexpensive price make this an attractive phaser for the budget-conscious Weekend Warrior. The subtlety of the effect (mentioned in first paragraph) will have me replacing my MXR on my bass pedal board with this Stax unit, as the MXR can sometimes have slightly too much wash for my bass rig. As a pedal nerd, one thing I really appreciate is that designers of the Stax Phaser knew to pay homage to the proper color of the 70s phaser. I have had other mini phaser circuits in the past, and it was irritating to glance down and have trouble spotting the phaser because it was entirely the wrong color. In my mind, based on experience, phasers are ORANGE. They are THIS orange. They are not silver. Or grey. Or blue. They are ORANGE. And this unit knows this. Overall this is a good value for the budget-conscious player.

Satisfaction-baby!
Bough this after seeing very good reviews and video demos online. Sure enought, I too am extremely happy with the pedal which I use with a Fender electric mandolin. There are no unwanted hums or noises (the problem with the Boss blues OD pedal it replaced)- just many available authentic-sounding overdrive effects that are good for genuine blues and rock distortion. It definitely can be used as a 'clean boost' pedal - or with just a very light overdrive edge- with very good results. Designed superbly. Looks fantastic on my pedal board and thr price is great too. This pedal is all the more reason I'm a big fan of this market of small-sized superb value-priced pedals. I see and hear no reason to pay much more for an overdrive pedal or any pedal. I still need and will keep using 2 other OD pedals that have other characteristics (I mention this to point out that it may not cover the full-range of OD sounds you might want- but to me, this 100% ok and to be expected- not a flaw. Your opinion may vary as pedal sounds are very much a user taste/opinion thing.)

Not worth the headache, does not work.
Why would I have to buy the power supply separately? I dug around for one and it does not work with the one I have. Maybe it would work if I tried a different one but pretty dumb that I have to buy a seperate one if you ask me. I’ve now wasted a week because the Amazon ai said the problem might be that I need a second cord to complete the circuit into the amp. Did not work. The amount of problem solving this has forced me to do is not worth it. So now do I order a different 9v power supply or replace it next? Just wanted to get something done and intonate my guitars. 1 week later and a headache my guitars are still not intonated. Kind of want to just go with a different type of tuner all together at this point. What ever happened to those great little battery powered ones we used to use when I was in elementary school learning guitar for the first time and Green Day was the hot new thing?

Thick, warm sound, nice graphics
If you are after the creamy Hendrix studio album version sound of "Wind Cries Mary", this pedal will get you pretty close (at least with a tube amp). IMO, this is a pedal for maximum blues on clean. Overall sound: creamy, thick, with a variable mid voice that goes from dark to bright. OD channel on amp: Even with very little gain, this will add thick mid-rangy boost. This is more heavy handed than a Tube Screamer. It's wonderfully subtle with the gain 7:00 and 8:00. With the voicing and tone turned to the high side, it is bright and clear. The Stax Dumbler is pretty much the same as the other <$35 Dumbler pedals, and I picked this particular one for the graphics. It looks good on a pedal board. It sounds great. I have no idea how close it comes to expensive Dumble pedals, but I like the sounds I'm getting out of it. It also works spectacularly with a little Black Rat feeding it, responding like an amp. If I didn't know it was a <$35 pedal, I wouldn't know it was a <$35.

Looper does not work - loud hiss
Does not work at all. It produces a very loud shrilling hiss and that’s all it does.

Very sick ! the dials give good fuzz tones all over, which does not always happen with fuzz faces. At least on this one. have to try on other rigs to get more time on it.

Great tuner for the price. Works good and doesn’t take too much room on my pedal board.

Superb boost in volume.

It works great! Ground is decent so you can have high gain with barely any feedback. Obviously not the best of the best, but for jamming it hits the mark. Mine was orange and silver, not purple and green. Not a big deal but it doesn't look like the pictures

El pedal es sólido, trae su botón de volumen y ganancia individuales y ecualizador de graves y agudos. El diseño es muy bueno y tiene muy buen sonido.
