Helpful info
As a complete tech novice I liked that this books starts at the very beginning. It explains what networking is, different protocals, different routing options, etc. I liked the simple, straightforward way the author explained everything. Like I could very easily get lost in the discussion of routing. But, the author explains the pros and cons of each, so I can pick the one best for my business. I think this book will be helpful.

Back To The Beginning
Going back to the beginning in this book and you get to learn the connections. Not just what they do but how they operate. Which I find really helpful in being better able to understanding the whole network.

Best guide
I loved this guide. It is one of the best I have read. All explanations and topics are perfectly covered. It is a book that is perfectly understood. If you are interested in learning about computer networks, look no further, this guide will be perfect for you.

Needs Editing -- Badly
I purchased this book as a refresher. The subject matter isn't that complicated, but the manner in which the book is written makes simple things seem opaque. Awkward sentences (and fragments that aren't sentences at all) are the rule rather than the exception. It's so painful to read that I'll probably throw the book in the trash. I feel ripped off.

Network theory - not how to.
Provides a simplistic overview of network theory and protocols. Not useful as a “how to” book. Wasn’t useful in helping me design my home network with wired and wireless devices. Not worth the money spent.

Easy to Understand
I read this book to gain an understanding of basic networking. This book walks you through the essentials of networking, so you get to know just enough about the LANs/WANs, the OSI model, and networking components. This book really made it easy to understand!

Fabulous with no doubts
Excellent book to learn from the beginning how computer networks work. Everything you need to know you will find in this guide. From the most basic, to the most complicated. I am sure it will be very useful for you.

Not exactly for beginners
The book starts out well, giving the reader some notion of how communications might be accomplished, but it finishes in such a rush that the message is lost. There is a chapter on history that tells very little history, drops a few names and then disappears. The little bit on subnet masking does no tell very much about what a subnet mask is nor how they are used. The section on maintenance is comical in its practicality. (Clean the air passages). There is nothing on configuring servers nor just about anything of practical use to a network builder nor maintainer.

Awful!
It appears to me that this book was never edited properly, if at all! A host of grammatical and punctuation errors make it a very difficult and uncomfortable read. As and electronics engineer, of a few years ago, I knew the principles and wanted to up-date myself. I am very disappointed with this book and found technical errors as well. I certainly would NOT recommend this book for a beginner.

A lot of errors !!
A lot of technical errors in the book. Conflicting statements and wrong calculations are few of the issues. Not worth the money

Terrible writing, editing and publishing
Reads like it was written by an alien pretending to speak a human language. Grammar and syntax are so bad as to make the actual content more difficult to parse. Editing and e-book transposition are sometimes not even bothering to show whole sentences. It. is. a. mess.Buy something else. You're worth more than this.

Not as expected
Liked the headings and structure of the book. However, some parts are poorly written and could confuse readers new to networking. There are some annoying tying mistakes which gives the impression that the book was written in haste.
