Toastmaster2-Slice Fast Toaster

I don't like waiting for my toast. I had a fast B&D toaster, but it burned out. At the time I could not find another fast toaster so got a regular one. 5 years later I looked again and saw this one and bought it.I'm happy with this toaster. It's much faster than my old one. It has a quality feel to it. It is well finished, the buttons feel good, the darkness dial feels good and solid, not like most of them which feel like they might break any minute they are so loose. This one feels good. I'm satisfied with the toast it makes. The bagel setting also works. I mention that because one of my B&D toasters had a bagel button but it literally did nothing except light up. Nothing else changed. This one works right.Here's what you need to know about fast toasting... There is no free lunch. To toast faster you have to have hotter elements. That means the toast surface will get toasted faster, but the inside won't get as warmed up compared to a regular/slow toaster. Some people don't like that; be aware of that difference. Also know that hotter elements draw more current. If you have a normal slow toaster and are already blowing breakers it will be worse with a fast toaster.I have timed many toasters over the years. The typical toaster with white bread will toast it to a light shade in about 2 minutes. I recently purchased the Toastmaster 2-slice Fast Toaster and have been using it regularly for a few weeks now. As stated in the title, this toaster is not perfect. The outside gets toasted rather quickly (as promoted in the ad), but the inner part of the toast does not get heated as it has with our former toasters. Additionally, the browning is not uniform, to say the least. It's an OK replacement, but not what I expected based on reviews I read.Also, it does put out an electrical smelling odor the first 2 or 3 times it's used (which is mentioned in the rather cursory foldout). The foldout also says you should clean out the crumb tray often, but there is no illustration on how to do it.I would not recommend this product.

Does not toast evenly: outside might be toasted but not inside, frozen items partitally burned or not toasted.

I purchased one of these toasters. It was broken and I had to return it. Second toaster - exactly the same - is fine. It toasts well. I especially like the "bagel" feature that turns off the inner heating elements so the top and bottom of the bagel don't brown.

Very easy to clean.

This toaster gets my toast too hot on the surface of the bread, but doesn't toast it all the way through. I find this disappointing because I like my bread thoroughly toasted and not black on the outside and pliable like bread under that. A bit of a disappointment.

Found as highly rated in Consumer's Report. It toasts quickly, easily accommodates various sizes and kinds of breads, bagels et al.
