I've been looking for a water-based pomade that smells nice and doesn't leave too much buildup, and Lockhart's Paradox has fit the need perfectly. The scent reminds me of cologne, but isn't overwhelming or offensive like some other pomades can be. As someone who only shampoos a couple times per week to avoid hair damage, this pomade is perfect. It almost completely rinses out with just water, and it doesn't leave my hair oily or waxy. After applying, I only need to rinse my hands with water, and I can even run my hands through my hair throughout the day without worrying about sticky residue. If I could give this product a downside, I'd say that it might be too lightweight for some people. I have thick hair with a lot of volume, so I usually don't need to apply too much product. But when I apply Paradox to towel-dried hair, I often need an extra smidge for it to work well all day. However, I think the other benefits outweigh this aspect by a huge margin and I'm excited to have found my new go-to hair product. Thanks Lockhart's!

Works well, shiny, but not that much hold for curly hair. Smell is completely cucumber rather than a cucumber scented product, but doesn’t smell bad and the smell fades after application.

This is by far my favorite hair product! I’ve used other Lockhart products and pomades from other companies, and this one works best for me. The scent is masculine, like cologne. It is very workable, and holds pretty well all day. I love how if my hair gets messed up, I can easily restyle it without adding more product. Some might find this to be a negative, but I’ve found it does not wash out in one wash. It is water based, but after one wash, my hair is still tacky. I think this is due to the beeswax content. That being said, I like how it doesn’t totally wash out because it leaves a nice fond for the next application, which means I don’t need to use as much product as I would if it totally washed out.

Using this made me go back to Goon Grease original oil based. Its just vastly superior to this product. I had to use a LOT to get 8 hours of hold, which dried hard almost like a gel.. otherwise after about 3 hours my hair was floppy and all over my face. Smells great but it doesnt last. Id look elsewhere unless you dont need much hold. I have thick coarse and straight hair. Im gonna try some unorthodox pomades because washing grease out of my hair is a nightmare

Having used pomades for the best part of 2 decades, I have to say the water based Goon Grease is THE best I’ve ever used. Ease of application and texture of pomade - 5* Scent (cucumber citrus) - 5* Hold - 3.5-4 out of 5, which is good for my hairstyle Shine - 4-4.5* when applied on damp hair Cost - 5* Product ingredients and quality - 5* Washed out easy peasy. My hair: Thick straight hair. People say I have Asian like hair. Goal: To slick to the side/back just with hands and have a natural wet messy look to it. Have natural move. I didn’t want a gel stuff look. I didn’t want greasy look either. Goal Achieved: The product is nice and consistent. One finger amount goes a long way with damped hair. No flakes. Fair volume and wet look throughout the day. I can pass may hands/fingers thoroughly and not have anything on my hand. SMELL: not strong, but it’s alright. I’d like more scent. One full point off because of that. STRENGTH: I’d say 7/10 for sure. Maybe just a bit more shine to it, just a tad bit more. But as it is I really like it. For a natural messy look. THIS IS IT. I am happy with the product. Earned a Loyal customer. Ps. I’ve always had short hair, thanks to this product I will try long hair styles now because I trust this product will do exactly what I want. And yes it need more scent lol that’s it. I don’t want a strong hold, this is like medium hold. Medium shine.
