useful telephone cal
Very high quality stainless steel construction. Replacing UV light bulbs takes a minute or two without emptying or shutting off the water. We replaced a unit for which UV replacement bulbs were $100 and not widely available and harder to find.I had a question about the silicone gaskets for this seller and he responded quickly, in minutes and followed up with a friendly, useful telephone cal. Experience with the old UV installation taught me to install this new unit with the bulb removal end at the top. The original unit here was upside down. Bulb replacement with the old system was a wet project that required emptying the water, shutting off the pump. The silicone gaskets are water tight and will seal well, but did require an additional one-eighth turn of the top cap after a very firm hand tightening following my install of the system. Stronger grips than mine could have it seal at the start. Even so, I recommend a few days check for a leak at the gaskets. This is easy to do by inserting the UV bulb about 95%, leaving the electrical pins and rubber connector slightly exposed above the top stainless screw-on cap. If there is a leak the water proof UV bulb will float up. Within a week you will know that the inner glass tube is not filling with water, and the rubber cap can be pushed down if you choose. If there is a leak, then tighten the top cap a bit more than hand tight. If the gasket still leaks a little, a bit more tightening, another eighth of a turn ought to fix it.The seller also sells replacement bulbs. At the time I'm writing this ... If you spend a bit more dough when you order the initial system you can save about two-thirds on two spare bulbs from the same seller.

Eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and viruses!
Great product. I've had it running for a couple weeks now. It's huge (like 3' long) and provides plenty of "contact time" to kill off anything that comes it's way.I was looking at the Watt's brand version and almost purchased it when I discovered this brand for way cheaper. Honestly Watt's makes good stuff and I tried doing a little background research to justify the cost difference and couldn't. It seems like Watt's slapped their name on someone else's product of the same quality. The directions are a little vague on adding the o-ring for the opposite end of the bulb. They look like they want you to drop it in the cap and that suppose to seal it, but you need to stretch it over the end of the glass tube for it to seal right. Also looks like they expect hand tightening should be enough to seal it, but I had to gently torque it down with a pipe wrench. Also if you do purchase it, buy the one that comes with two extra bulbs (I thought I did, but I guess I ended up clicking the wrong one when I went to buy), it's a good deal.

The quartz tube is so delicate
Bought this and when I was installing the quartz tube it cracked. I was being so careful and it still cracked. The company was helpful on selling me a new tube which I successfully installed. It works great and the housing is made of quality materials. I love that is has the indicator light showing that it is still working. I do wish they made the inlet and outlets a little longer for pex. Since UV will damage PEX pipe I had to install brass 90s and nipples so the UV cannot reach my PEX pipe.

Works great for a week
This was easy to install and worked perfectly for a week. Suddenly we had water everywhere. The glass piece inside had cracked in several spots. Thought it might have been something we did, so we bought a replacement piece. A week later of working great, again water everywhere. It is on a pressure regulator, so psi never exceeded 50psi. There was so much broken glass inside that after a few cuts on my hand, the whole thing went into the garbage.

It's All Good
Mine has been in service only about 10 days, and I have no way to know whether the light is killing anything, or even whether there is anything in our water to kill. So there is that. With regard to installation -- I broke the bulb during installation. Mostly my fault, as I was installing the unit in a vertical position with the plug on the down side. Ugh. But Wholesale Market cheerfully replaced it at no charge! Lesson learned, I modified my installation to mount it horizontally. After experiencing a leak at the end caps, I took everything apart and used teflon tape on the end caps; the tape provides a thread lubricant, reducing the torque requirement to seal. Also, I used a little smear of silicon o-ring grease on the end seals to aid in getting them stretched over the quartz tube. No leaks now.Appears to be a high-quality product, and the customer service could not be better. Along with millions of people in the USA, I am increasingly concerned about the quality of my household water, so I now have a fine-mesh filter, a water softener, and this germ-killing machine.

Read the reviews...their power ballasts fail regularly.
Read the other reviews. The unit worked as described (which is why i gave it two stars), but the Power Ballast failed. If you look at other reviews, this is a long time known fault that the manufacturer has done nothing about.Their customer service suggested I use a surge protected plug next time, but it was on a surge protector. There are plenty other solutions, it would serve you well to continue shopping

easy install works great so far few months in
make sure if your using pex or PVC to make a 12" copper connection from the UV light as it does get warm if it sets for a few days with no water flow

Everything seems to be working wonderful.
I installed this sterilizer as an addition to a whole home filter system on 04/01/2021. It took a few days for the water to clear up and get rid of the cloudiness from the filter. I haven't had the water tested, but the taste is great from the 3 layer filter removing dirt and chlorine etc. One thing about the UV light, when using water first thing in the morning, the cold water can be quite warm, almost hot when the UV light is on all night and no water is flowing through the system.Everything has been working great but this morning the power supply started chirping and the fault light was blinking. Contacting Bluonics about the issue now.
