As others have mentioned, the strap is initially a bit on the stiff side, but it does soften up with use, and a light application of carnauba wax (or similar) on the strap buttons can help when installing the strap for the first time. It will also help eliminate the creaking sound the strap might make the first day or two as it breaks in. I'd consider the first few days of use to be similar to breaking in a quality baseball glove -- slightly stiff to use up front, but well worth the effort in the long run. I think the strap is probably ~10 oz leather, well made, with a very nice look that will only get better over time. The quality and stiffness of the leather will ensure that the strap will stay put on the strap buttons, and it ought to last for decades. If you are putting the strap on and taking it off constantly in order to put your guitar in a tight-fitting case, you might be in for a workout for the first couple weeks as the strap breaks in, but it doe become exponentially easier each time you use it. For me, the width of the strap is perfect. I'm not a fan of overly wide guitar straps, and this one is wide enough to spread out the weight and reduce the strain on your shoulder without being cumbersome or looking out of place. For me, it is comfortable to use for hours on end, and the width is just small enough to allow it to fit in the case pocket where a wider strap will not. Lastly, I think the price is fairly good given the quality of the item.

This is the perfect leather strap for my Martin Custom dreadnought guitar. Solid and thick cut of leather, stained to perfection for that classic look. Width is just right…not too wide and not too narrow. Will take some time to soften, so be patient. It will be worth it.

Nice strap I purchased for my 1965 C.F.Martin. Looks good. I only give 4 stars because it’s a little stiff and will require some time to break in, but a good product I feel was well worth the money. Would buy again.

This was hands down a great solid purchase and great quality strap just get some and add them so it does not disconnect on accident and you are good to GO.

Appearance: I love this guitar strap. It has the same kind of look and feel to it as my grandfather’s that was on his D-28. Conditioning: I conditioned the heck out of this. I coated it in about 10 coats of rubbing alcohol and used a thin layer of petroleum jelly over the whole thing to loosen the fibers. It gained a whole lot of flexibility and softness. Functionality: The eyes of the strap grab the studs very tightly. That’s a must for me. I prefer to leave my straps on the guitar. Should work perfect long term. Fit: Out of the package, this fits me, and my dreadnought perfectly using the strap buttons. I’m 5’8” and average build (180 lbs). It has one looser setting to go, if you’re stouter than I am, it may be a little short for your liking.

I purchased this relatively-expensive strap specifically because it was listed as "soft" leather. (I already own a number of "hard" leather straps, so I wanted something more comfortable.) In truth, this strap is the absolute hardest leather I've encountered, and therefore very uncomfortable — in fact, much harder than the strap it was to replace. Yes, it's leather, but definitely not as advertised. Would not recommend.
