so far so good
After doing my research I decided to go with this brand when buying my first triathlon "suit". I also bought the matching sports bra to go with these shorts because my intentions were to find something I could wear comfortably throughout all stages without worrying. I'm generally a medium (4/6, closer to a 6 from time to time) and size medium did fit a little tight. I'm 5'6" 138lbs and most of my weight is in my thighs so I worry about shorts riding up my legs or falling down in the back by my waist while riding and running, but these shorts do not have that problem at all. The little rubber grips at the hem worked perfectly in and out of water and weren't too constricting (the length is about 3 inches up from my knees, so your whole thigh is covered) and I really appreciated that during my run, the draw cord at the waist was great and did not come undone once. The padding is a little light, but it's enough to help you out when you're riding, it is noticeable in and out of the water, but I had no chafing at all, and it didn't retain any water so you didn't get that diaper feeling when you were out of the water. The actual color is pretty close to the product image as well. I would def buy these again.

Fit to size and snazzy
These tri shorts fit to size and are pretty snazzy looking without being overly flashy. My first wearing of them was for a practice sprint triathlon at the gym. 350 yards swimming, they were comfortable and dried quickly once out of the pool. 11 miles on the bike, they were again comfortable and I was very pleased the padding didn't look or feel like a diaper on or off the saddle, and the legs did not ride up due to the silicone dots. However, upon starting the 5k on the treadmill, only a 1/2 mile into it the chafing began where the bike padding is stitched in the back rubbing against my inner thigh/tush area. I've not experienced chafing before in any running shorts, I've never tried to run in my regular biking shorts, nor have I ever had tri shorts so I don't know if this is normal. But it was bad enough that I had to stop running and even walking the rest of it was uncomfortable. I don't know if it's a flaw in these shorts or if it's like that for everyone with every tri short. That's why I have to ding this product down by one star, but otherwise, the shorts are really good.

I thought I might be a bit more comfortable going up one size in my attempt to have ...
I am currently wearing size large in running shorts, bike shorts, and triathlon shorts. I thought I might be a bit more comfortable going up one size in my attempt to have a second pair of tri shorts. I received these and tried them on -- they're not even close to an XL. I think someone who usually wears a medium might have trouble getting them on. I have an easier time getting my wetsuit on than these shorts -- I actually couldn't get them above my hips. I'm not using tri glide to get shorts on! They might work well for skinny people, but if you are a large or XL, steer away.

Wearing my second pair and coming back for a third.
These are exactly what I was looking for. I'm a curvy girl (aka, I like ice cream) and these don't ride up on the leg or give my friends on the bike behind me an unnecessary veiw of my backside A potential con is they do have the grips around your leg so you do get a bit of a polka dot pattern for a couple of minutes when you get out of them. I love to swim and I do use these as my primary swim suit, unlike my husbands swim trunks, due to the chamois, things remain moist for a little longer than I'd like and it can't be removed when we are just swimming or paddling. I know there are styles with removeable chamois and anti slip legs without the rubber grips, but for the price these can not be beat. They are padded enough to keep you comfortable on a good saddle, but if you rely on your shorts to save you from your less comfortable saddle, these are not the shorts for you. The above picture is a very good representation of length so if you are looking for something to hit you mid thigh, look at the 6 inch short. I had my first pair for 2 years of regular use before needing to be replaced due to a hole in the seat (I caught it on a sharp metal piece while jumping off a boat). I've only had this pair for a month and they are wearing well. I didn't experience any fading with my previous pair and I do swim in clorinated pools during the winter months. These are true to size.

Love the length
Love the length! I'm 5'4" and 140-145 (depends :) These come down to just above my knees. Mind you I am much thicker in the bum and thigh area with a tiny waist in relation. The padding is good for long rides. but I haven't swim or run in them yet. I will say that when I first put these on, the crotch hangs a little low, but once you ride for a while, the crotch is where it should be! I ordered a large, which fit, but again the crotch issue, so I thought maybe that means I need to go up to the XL. So I ordered those and they fit better, but not great. Still like the look of them and only time will tell if I have chafe!

Not like pictured.
I was very disappointed in these. I specifically ordered them due to the white stripes on the legs--something to differentiate them from other black shorts--and the pair I received does not have white stripes--that area is a black mesh. Just another pair of boring black shorts. Considering returning them as a result.

Great for beginners
Triathlon newbie here! Got these for my first tri (sprint!) to go with the tyr competitor top I picked up at a local bike store. I am a street 4/6, 5'7" and 140-145 lbs. I went with the size medium after reading reviews - and the shorts were perfect for what I needed. I am somewhere between hourglass and athletic, and the shorts fit really well. The comments about the chamois not being sewn down on the edges are true, but the foam edge seemed rounded and didn't cause me issues. I probably could have put more bodyglide on my sits bone area for the little chafing I was getting, but I don't think it was the cut/construction of the chamois, just me. The legs stayed down, and I liked the pocket on the back to put my ID in for check -in. Like others commented, I selected the black color and it did not have the white color block on the leg, but I wanted plain black shorts so it worked for me.
