Hidden gem inside
SO I bought this and I dont own an xbox. Heres why. Inside the 12tb D10 is a Western Digital DC HC520 drive. I quick google of said drive will reveal this is an enterprise grade drive. Coupled with it being on offer for two hundred notes means that when on offer this is a bargain. I stripped the drive out and gave my nas a handy boost. Bit about it as an external drive. The case is plastic fantastic which is disappointing at this price point. Its chunky though and has a small fan. I'll likely reuse the case with an old drive. Either way the drive that came with it is a beast. Very fast with a low margin of error and built to last. The drives literally run all day every day in data centres so will be more than enough for your games collection. The real limit here on performance is the USB interface. Again perfect for games or as an external drive but a true sata connection sets it free.

Best game drive there is until SSD drops in price.
OK, a great product but with drawbacks. Good: 12TB of fast storage supplied by award winning WD Black drive. It clocked up to 250Mbs on the transfer replacing the USB powered Samsung I had on my XBOX One X which maxed out at 125Mbs. Good: Reduced to sub £200 and 3 months Xbox Ultimate Game pass included price this at little over £15 per TB and enough storage for the next gen of gaming. Good and bad: Power supply rather than USB Powered. Includes 2x 7.5W USB Charging ports but means this is always on. Good and bad right!? Good and bad: This thing is always on unless you unplug it. If you don't have your Xbox on FULL OFF this drive will grind away often while your console is on standby. The power light is white, not too bright and slowly pulses away. This always on drive state make response times amazing but there is no power management it seems. Good and bad: Fan not loud (some people complain they don't hear it) but drive grinds/reads can be heard when its quiet. Louder than my other drives. Best external gaming drive there is unless you step up to SSD at 5x the price 1/5th capacity.

Really Noisy and Terribly Slow
I couldn't recommend this drive as it is very noisy and slow when transferring files from my old drive to the new one. My main concern was the noise the drive makes when accessing the drive, be it downloading or playing games, it just seems to be struggling with itself, maybe it is the supposedly active cooling that is causing the problem. The drive is connected to a Xbox series X as well as having been connected to a series S, still the noise, at one point it got that loud I was tempted to send it back as I thought it may be faulty, but having all my games installed on it now, it was more of a hassle to do so than it's worth, Plus if it does indeed fail, at least there will be the warranty, I also have two 8 TB Seagate gaming drives and neither one of them makes anywhere the noise level this one does, also have been attached to the same consoles. All in all the speeds are not what is advertised, game loading speeds are no better than the Seagate drives, the hard drive in this Xbox branded game drive is probably a cheap drive in a flashy branded Xbox game case to increase sales and dupe people into buying it, it really isn't worth the money. Look elsewhere, as whilst it may be advertised as a Xbox branded high performance drive, it certainly doesn't perform like one. I'm sorry to be critical of the western digital drive, I can only report my experience with this drive. Look Elsewhere.

Very fast and lots of space
The 12TD D10 is an excellent drive when used as intended, very fast with read and write speed of over 200MBps looks good to and the 3 months Xbox gold was a bonus, the price does fluctuate so I paid £214. I did try and put it in my NAS drive as it works fine however it made a loud noise at time so I took it out and put it back in its case. The drive inside is also very high quality

Stylish and effective
I'm using this drive to store various large files that are then portable between various systems. I've so far written just over 7 TB to it. The drive performs well and I've found it relatively quiet (when flat rather than upright in the provided cradle when there is then some vibration noise) in operation. I personally like the ridges and WD_Black / Xbox markings as it looks a bit more interesting than the usual 'black box' kind of external drive.

Active Cooling Block Don't know about that to be Honest its just a Product Designed so Well that makes you Wanna Buy it! Its Really Unfortunate What happenned to your Unit but i with All My Experience & Failures have been Watching / Observing this Thing | So FAr Performance is Okay Except for that Noise, All Tests of Mine seem Successful
