Rugged Ridge | Hood Vent Kit, Performance, Black | 17759.09 | Fits 1997-2018 Jeep Wrangler

I did not use this product on its intended vehicle but rather I used these on my 96 cherokee XJ. They look great. I did not use the included mounting hardware but rather just drilled holes for the screws to mount the vents. The included template is, dare I say it, dummy proof. I taped it down on my hood, took a knife around the lines of where to cut, drilled out the holes, removed template, put down masking tape, then finished up by cutting the holes in the hood for the vents to function. It does not sit perfectly flush but I imagine some 3m automotive tape will cure that. Update: A few months along and these are still great. I did use the 3M auto tape and it wasnt really worth it. I ended up taking some RTV gasket sealer and sealing the gaps where the vent did not sit flush. It seems to be the best way to make this product look perfectly flush. I have noted that my air conditioning really benefits a lot from having more heat escape and I am sure my custom cowl intake benefits too but I have no way to prove that.

Item arrived early. Installing needs tools and grinder. The product includes drawing pattern. The item is a soft plastic but visually adds nice attraction. You can feel the engine hot air venting out. It assist keeping the engine bay lowering the temperature. I installed this on my Challenger hood

Items were as expected. I read many reviews on this site and others. Very simple to install. I recommend watching several videos on YouTube. Even videos for other vents for tricks. Like marking all of your "punch" marks with a sharpie. I removed the hood for this project. By myself... not heavy at all. PROs: -only a small cut in hood. With the Larger units you must cut a large portion of the hood. -openings face toward the windshield (when driving in snow, rain, or sleet the moisture does not pack in against the firewall) -could easily pop units off and put a plastic "patch" under the vent if needed. (If moving to Siberia or Alaska) CONs: -the vent doesn't sit flush on all corners. Manufacturer should have placed the mounting screws at the corners rather than the center. -vents are about an inch or so tall. Not as sleek a look as the flat Spider or Hyline I would recommend.

These do NOT fit well! I am verrrrry glad I laid them out and did a pre-fit before actually cutting the holes. They do not lay flush at ALL on my 2009 Wrangler. I would not have been happy at all if I had cut the holes before figuring this out. I plan to return immediately.

These hood vents are well constructed and will actually vent out the jeep JK hood. But i decided not to install them and went with a different hood ventilation design.
