Great keypad - modern look and feel
I've installed several Ademco/Honeywell/Resideo Vista 20p alarm systems over the years and have used most of their major keypads, including the 6150, 6160, 6160RF and the Tuxedo Touch. This 6290W keypad is big upgrade from those and I feel it's the best way to modernize the look and feel of the Vista series alarm systems in 2023. While it doesn't have the ZWave features of the Tuxedo Touch (a feature best handled by a separate modern smart home hub anyway), it's got a great display, thin profile on the wall, good audio volume, and the ability to speak the names of zones when zone faults occur. This 6290W keypad doesn't have a built-in RF receiver like the 6160RF, so if you're building a new Vista system and want to use wireless sensors, you'll either need to keep a 6160RF keypad in your system or add a dedicated wireless receiver like the 5881ENH at the alarm panel.

Honeywell Touch Screen
So much better than the older Tuxedo touch screen. More reliable and simple to use. The older Tuxedo touch screen looked good but was extremely buggy and unreliable.

Looks great, it TALKS (but only if you want it to)!
Pretty simple to use, and dramatically cheaper if you buy it here than what an installer would charge. A great upgrade, it speaks which zone has been opened. Still digging into the features, it looks terrific as well. A definite upgrade to the house, when selling, people look at things like keypads when determining if a house is “up to date”.

Try again
Spoke to my alarm co and they will try and walk me through set-up, if it works, I will reassess. The unit looks good, just no installation instructions on programing.

Nice upgrade over push button key pad
This is a nice upgrade over the Normal 6160 Keypad. It shows the zones and status you can easily add additional users. Astatically a step above the keypad as well. If you have a Vista system you still have to use the keypad for programming. The 6290w does have a touch Keypad you can use with no problem. Or keep your 6160 and mount it in another location for programming. I would buy it again as it's a nice upgrade a little pricey but so is the normal keypad.

Love it!
Love the look of this so much! Might get a second one to change out another keypad!Install was easy, I already had a touchscreen setup (6280s) so it was as easy as swapping the back plates and wires! 👌Function and overall look is much better then the 6280!

Nice Upgrade - Read review for tip!
Check YouTube for video(s) from bounder97. This guy went out of his way to explain everything you need and every step needed to make the switch from older keypads to the new higher power touchscreen. Once I had the second backup battery and power supply in hand, it took me about an HR to swap two keypads on my Vista 20p. The videos made all the difference. Enjoy!
