What’s Cooking at 10 Garden Street?: Recipes for Kids From Around the World

Thought I was buying this because of how lovely it looked...ended up being much more
So I was looking for children's books to buy my best friends' 4-year old, for bedtime reading. I'm not sure how I landed on this book page, but it was such a lovely looking book––with the kind of illustrations I adore. So I decided to get it for him and just explain that it may be unconventional as a 4-yr old's bedtime story...but, hey, it's multicultural and sooo pretty!Well. Cut to two weeks later when I'm selected to handle his bedtime story and his parents inform me that this is his favorite book. I was sure they were kidding since it's a gorgeous recipe book, but not necessarily a children's book...and they shrugged and assured me that it is, in fact, his favorite! I read a few pages to him before he stopped the regularly scheduled programming and asked me to name ingredients for him to point out on the recipe pages. He couldn't get enough of it! [Note: this kid is very smart and precocious.] So you may think this a really beautiful cookbook of sorts, but it can double as an interactive children's book too! I recommend it!Lovely illustrations with an inclusive, multicultural message :)

Love
A friend recommended this to me and we loved it! Great idea for a book. It reminded me of another book we love called How We Do It except in that book you explore the day of a child in a different country. I liked that this book explored different cultures and foods within a single community. Lovely.

Great expansion book
A great viewpoint to illustrate many different cultures and recipes and how they can coexist in a small space just like many different people can coexist in a community. My elementary school aged kids loved this book and also loved that the recipes are functional and can be easily made too!

I am cooking through this book with my daughter.
This is a beautifully illustrated book with simple, but delicious recipes. This book introduced my kids to Dahl, which is now in heavy rotation. Highly recommended if you want to spend quality time with the kids, while also making dinner!

a new favorite!
My son has been enjoying geography, and I love food. This is a great way to talk about travel and food. We made the peanut butter cookies together, turned out great!

Beautiful colorful images
A very attractive book- love it- but does not grasp the attention of the targeted audience (children).

Poor quality - not the quality advertised.
Like the book but very unhappy about the quality. While it’s not a new book, the quality is said to be “very good” and it’s not. Pages ripped inside too. I buy lots of second hands books and think this is not great. If it’s in poor condition, it should say and buyer beware! I’d like a refund!

Beautiful book but beware when buying
Beautiful book but beware when buying! I bought both Whats cooking at 10 Garden Street and Lunch at 10 Pomegranate Street assuming they were different but they are not. The only difference is that the Pomegranate Street one uses grams and cup measurements whereas the Garden Street is cups only.

Recipes not in metric
Beautiful book, but the recipes are not in metric (uses cups instead of grams and Fahrenheit oven temps) which means lots of converting to make them.
