SSD drives are fast but when you come from a mechanical hard drive, you notice the difference. The operating system loads in under a minute from cold boot. This product works well and I expect it to be very reliable. You can format it and have it work with any OS. Worth every penny

This is a great drive for my old Dell 2012 laptop. It boots Linux Mint Mate 21.2 on this old machine (my main driver) ready to go in 20 secs. Why would i need a new laptop? I was using a 512Gb Silicon Power and ordered their 1Tb SSD. Then i read that this Crucial BX500 was much better quality than most other SSD, so i cancelled the SP drive and ordered this one. I certainly have (almost) no complaints but i can't tell myself, as the SP one still booted in 20 secs too. Maybe it will last much longer as since it was only about 5 bucks more i figured it was worth trying out. It works great.Now the only slight complaint i have is that the retaining screw hole is very slightly misplaced so that, when i fit the plastic fascia with the screw fitted to the drive, it does not quite reach so it will not boot. To be fair, this is not the only drive that this has happened with on this Dell but the SP one DID work fine. So i just locate and push in the drive with my fingers and leave the trim off and then it works fine. It's a bit annoying but since i rarely move the laptop anyway it's not worth returning. It does lose a star, though, for that.Other than that one ding i am extremely happy with this drive and it does everything i need. By the way, i can recommend Rescuezilla thoroughly for anyone wishing to clone their drive. It is free, has a GUI (unlike Clonezilla, which is great too), just uses a USB stick and worked perfectly for me to clone my 512 to 1Tb drive. Now i have tons of room again.

Great ssd, very fast, stays cool, good price I think. The ssd has a metal plate which should increase its durability and I fell it is good build quality. I will continue to use crucial ssds in the future. They look great in my pc aswell

I bought this to replace a failed SSD in a Mac Mini dock. The Crucial is so much faster than the drive it replaced ever was. So far it's been reliable, holding my music library and serving as a scratch disk for video editing with no hang-ups, no glitches, and no problems.My only issue was that it didn't want to fit into the dock and I had to force it a little. The other drive slipped in and our easily. Not sure if the other drive was slightly undersized or what, but it's a minor quibble and I'm already much happier with this drive than I ever was with the old one.
