A hilarious comedian hits another home run
It was through his half hour special on Comedy Central that I first discovered Sebastian Maniscalco. It's tricky for me to describe his humor (beyond the words "witty and sarcastic"), but between his Italian/Brooklyn accent and the way he tells a story always leaves me crying with laughter. He's not overly raunchy like Dane Cook, nor is he super mellow like Demetri Martin. He's not a total dork like Brian Regan, nor is he a country bumpkin like the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. This is a guy who seems to have been born and raised on the city streets--just trying to play it cool and keep up with the times, while also lamenting over the fact that the world has changed drastically since he was a kid--for better or worse. In this special, Sebastian talks about a wide range of topics, from growing up with a hard working, Italian family, to the ups and downs of being married, to the struggle of ordering a burrito at Chipolte. His stories are completely relatable, while also pointing out the weirdness and stupidity of both modern technology and people in general. Some of my favorite bits include his family's solution to getting rid of household pests; his stance on airport security, and how to get rid of burglars via a bow and arrow. To say any more would be to spoil the whole show. You'll just have to give him a watch and see for yourself...then lose your breath from laughing. It's a shame, as well as a mystery, as to why his name isn't as well known as the above mentioned comedians, because he's arguably just as funny; maybe even funnier. It's time he got the recognition he deserves. Give his specials (including this one) a listen; you won't be disappointed.

Bring Kleenex...I cried laughing!
Sebastian? "What kind of Sicilian/Italian name is that?" I asked myself after watching this very, very, very funny guy who spends some significant time talking about his Sicilian/Italian roots. Turns out the name Sebastian is Greek in origin, however, there is a Saint Sebastian and I'd venture a guess this smart, funny, "your-family-roots-are-important" guy used this intentionally in his routine (I won't say how...maybe you'll get it). So what do I really like about Sebastian Maniscalco (trying saying that 3 consecutive times..LOL), I love comedians who talk about family in a fun-loving, huggable, "its your family" way...and although this is a small part of Maniscalco comedy, it's a very funny, loving, skit. Also a pet-peeve, I really appreciate comedians who rely on THEIR OWN (prepared) COMEDY skit to do their job of entertaining, instead of picking on the audience. I feel picking out/on someone in the audience is cheap-weak-untalented fall-back for comedians who can't get a rhythm or make a connection with the audience based on THEIR OWN (prepared) COMEDY skit. Not to worry here, Sebastian Maniscalco is funny, demonstrative, almost interactive with the audience; he also seems so sincere in his bit of "neurosis" about "what's acceptable behavior...IN PUBLIC" and why one you might want to feel embarrassed about/by somethings. Sebastian Maniscalco might be a challenging name to say three times in a row, yet I would have no problem watching this very, very, very funny guy 3 times in a row ...while rolling in laughter. peace.

LAUGH YOUR **S OFF HILARIOUS!!!!!
Sebastian Maniscalco has a way of communicating with his voice, and mannerisms unlike any other comedian I have seen. This stand up special is so funny, you will lose control of your bladder if you don't pause the video. Line after line, one funnier then the last, will have you in stitches, literally. If you are Italian, and in your 50's in age, you will appreciate the old school comedy derived from Sebastian's own family, and how his father, in particular brought him up as a youngster growing up in an Italian household. Maniscalco does not shy away from any subject matter which may be considered offensive to some. He is so likable, he can get away with it. Highly Recommended!!

Not perfect but still great
This is a great DVD. The laughs are plentiful, and what you would expect from one of the funniest standup comedians around. However, what you don't expect from Sebastian Maniscalco is a lot of profanity, in particular, f-bombs. For whatever reason, he decided to include them in this performance. This is his third DVD I own, but the first I can remember where he reverts to that kind of language. Now, f-bombs don't bother me, and many times they can add to the moment. Heck, even Sarah McLaughlan has dropped them before in her songs. And while there aren't a lot in 'Aren't You Embarassed,' Sebastian Maniscalco has never needed to add them to his comedy routines, so I hope this is a one-off.

Sebastian at his best
He had me at hello. This is by far Sebastian's best DVD in my opinion, and his next best would be What's Wrong With People. His facial expressions and physical antics really round out the bits. Awesome entertainment.
