For anyone that does wet shaving, a pre-shave cream is an essential step. This brand is my favorite and this particular version is the one I use the most. Pre-shave creams perform several function to make shaving easier, and getting a closer shave. My routine is as follows. Wet your face with warm almost hot water. I use a facecloth and hold it against my skin for about a minute, rewetting it frequently to keep the water hot against my skin. Apply the cream in a circular motion to ensure all the hairs are fully coated.. I then let it sit on my face while I prepare the wet shave soap. Doing so softens and hydrates the skin, allowing you to stretch it with the other hand enabling you to actually shave the hairs below skin level. After applying the shave soap a double edge razor glides across the skin mowing off the stubble and providing a nick free shave.

I usually don't write reviews. I base this one on all the other positive reviews. A few months ago I purchased the Art of Shaving's starter kit. I was using a Gillette Fusion. I was impressed with the shave I received using Pre-Shave, Shaving Cream and an after shave. I would usually just use whatever cheap gel I could get and be happy. I began to become more and more interested in getting "The Perfect Shave." Research led me to the purchase of a DE and some blades. Well, this was interesting and a new skill to learn but I quickly figured out the technique. The problem with the DE and The Art of Shaving products was the build up of the cream in between the blades. This quickly led to irration and for lack of a better word, discomfort. More research pointed me to Proraso Shaving Soap. WHOAAA!!! This is a completely different experience. This is an amazing shave. I was still using the AoS (Art of Shaving) for pre and post shaving. Reading more everyone was saying you get the best shave using Proraso's Pre and their after shave. Okay, compared to the price of AoS I will give Proraso a shot. I received both the Pre and After Shave today (A day after ordering) and quickly went to give all three products a try. Well, I'm done! I can't stop touching my face, it is so smooth. I am amazed that I, myself, gave myself such a close and irration free shave. I will not be using the AoS products again. The Proraso products smell great (not over powering) and they allow the DE to easily glid across my face without getting clogged up with cream. If you have never tried the Proraso products, don't wait, order now. I found the perfect products for shaving and I thank every single one of the other Amazon product reviews for introducing me to Proraso. I will not be switching from this point forward. I really never thought I would be so ecstatic and impressed by a shaving product.

In order to properly review this product, I shaved with it three separate times, starting with a new Astra blade. I shave with a Parker 22R DE razor, and my shaving cream of choice is Jack Black Triple Cushion Cream. So what's my verdict here? While I can't say this product has drastically altered my shaving life, I can happily say that it makes a noticeable difference. I will definitely continue using/buying this stuff. If you've read any of my other shave-related reviews, you know that I have extremely sensitive skin. Switching to DE razors four months ago really changed the game for me, as the irritation and ingrown hairs have for the most part gone away. Still, there are parts of my neck that are prone to irritated redness and nicks due to all the damage I've done with cartridge razors for years before. I bought the Proraso Anti-Irritation Pre-Shave cream to hopefully alleviate this, as I have read many positive reviews about Proraso creams. Well, here's what I have to say... On the positive side, I noticed with this Proraso pre-shave cream I've never had a closer shave. Seriously, I have achieved a new level of baby-butt-smooth now that I use this. The blade does seem to glide over the hairs more easily, making the whole process more smooth. In addition, I love the fragrance. Very masculine and unique without being overpowering. Also, while nicks were far and few between anyway, Proraso pretty much cut out the nicks with this product. Bravo! However, I was disappointed in the irritation department. While irritation on certain parts of my face were further reduced, it still seemed those sensitive parts of my neck would flame up a bit after my against-the-grain passes, especially with each consecutive shave. That was the primary reason I bought this in the first place, so the fact it didn't fully deliver in that area is what's holding back a perfect score. But don't get discouraged. If you actually use this as an aftershave (in addition to using it as a pre-shave) it is UNBEATABLE. When you apply this after your shaving routine, your skin has an awesome cooling feeling, and any redness will go away very quickly. Also, any nicks that do occur will quickly be healed/cleaned up. Using this as an aftershave is what makes me excited to involve this in my routine, and it's probably my favorite benefit to using this product. I wish Proraso would market the aftershave potential on this particular product more than just its pre-shave qualities. If you are new to using pre-shave creams, you may be confused how they work. Typically, you'll put it on your wet face, then put on your shaving cream without rinsing the pre-shave cream off. After dampening my face with cold water after a shower, I then rub in a very small amount to cover my face (and another small portion for my neck). It's best if you wait a minute or two to let it soak into your skin/beard. From there, I lather on my shaving cream and begin the manly ritual of shaving. I even reapply this pre-shave cream in between passes for those super-sensitive areas on my neck.

I shave my head at least once a week, and have to use something to avoid any issues with irritation and razor burn. This stuff is great. It helps my razor to glide along very easily, as well as it helps to soften the hairs to make them easier to cut.

I've gotten razor burn since I started shaving. This pre-shave, which you put on FIRST - before your shaving cream or other moisturizer combined with a DE handle and razor has almost completely eliminated my irritation. It worked so well I bought it for my buddies who also struggle with post shave bumps and redness. As a bonus it smells quite nice and refreshing.

Good, helps avoid cuts when shaving. Apply before your shaving foam.

Funciona, no le tenía mucha fé pero si que mejora el afeitado. Tengo muchísima menos irritación y da un afeitado más apurado. Tiene una textura rara, como si fuera jabón batido pero no espuma. Huele bien. Lo único malo es que se queda más en la cuchilla que el jabón de afeitar, pero nada que un poco de agua no saque

Mein erstes Preshave - daher kann ich nichts im oder zum Vergleich nennen. Ich mag den Geruch, obwohl ich gefühlt wenig "grüner Tee" wahrnehme. Wie andere Nutzer hier auch rieche ich mehr Zitrone raus. Die Konsistenz ist angenehm, die Creme verteilt sich leicht aber etwas stabiler als Creme. Die Rasierklinge gleitet danach merklich leichter über die Haut. Da ich ziemlich empfindliche Haut habe, ist die Creme sehr nützlich. Der Preis ist auch OK, kann man nicht meckern. Fazit: alles zusammen betrachtet, würde ich die Creme wieder kaufen.

Ottima crema pre-rasatura. Ammorbidisce la pelle e prepara bene alla rasatura, riducendo irritazioni. Prodotto di qualità.
