EltaMDUV Clear Tinted Face Sunscreen, SPF 46 Oil- Free with Zinc Oxide, Dermatologist Recommended

My Doctor recommended this sunscreen and this is my third year I’ve used this product. I have a natural tendency to a ‘rosy’ complexion and this sunscreen doesn’t aggravate that condition. I’ve used both the tinted and untinted formulations and this season I’m more into the tinted. The color is so sheer, so not much difference for me. I have a fair or pale complexion - typically I wear the lightest foundation choice in every product line and this blends right in for me even though when dispensed it looks like it would stand out and create a visible line where the product stopped.I’m happy with the way this sunscreen spreads and then stays put. It’s not a lotion. Feels drier than that. Once on, it doesn’t seem to rub off. It doesn’t clog pores and is in a small, easily portable container. The rigid container with a solid lid that snaps on makes it easy to tote around - no accidental dispensing. It’s shape, bottle materials and size help make it easy to quickly locate in a bag of skincare items. It is a transparent zinc oxide which for me is a huge plus. You need so little, it goes really far. I didn’t take good care of my skin as far as sun exposure when I was younger but I’m hoping to not pile on in my senior years. Several family members have dealt with skin cancer so I understand the stakes here.I wasn’t able to find this locally, so I was happy to find it on Amazon and not need to make a trip to the doctor’s office for a restock. The product expiration on my Elta sunscreen orders has always been atleast a year out. Often more.April 2025So here we are in 2025. I am still using this and I’m certain it is doing good things for my skin. I have tried numerous skincare routines and products in the intervening years and this sunscreen is still my favorite. I make sure to put a small amount on the top of my hands before heading outside for the day.I had a problem with a few of the containers failing to pump or not reliably pumping. Decided to send the latest purchase back and discovered the manufacturer had posted a video about how to correct that issue. Followed instructions - replace cap, turn upside down, tap or gently hit the bottom 6-7 times, turn it upright and then it was pumping like it should.I have every intention of continuing to use this product. Between a hat, this sunscreen and a great pair of sunglasses, life is good.

This tinted sunscreen is by far my favorite skincare product—truly the holy grail. I’ve been using it for over six years, and it has never failed me. The tint gives just enough coverage to even out my skin tone, so I can skip foundation and still feel put-together, especially on hot summer days when less is more. It feels light, breathable, and never greasy, which is a miracle in itself. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it—please never stop making this stuff! If you’re looking for that perfect mix of skincare and light coverage, this is it.

My skin reacts very negatively to too much sun, especially at the beginning of the summer season. As a result, my dermatologist recommended that I use a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen and that it be at least 50 SPF. The problem with a lot of mineral sunscreens is that, while they are very effective against the sun, they are hard to rub in and likely to leave a white cast on one’s face. As a person of color, I’ve found that to be a particular problem.A large number of “experts” in articles I read recommended this sunscreen. I can now understand why—and also why 40 thousand Amazon customers have purchased this in the past month alone! It comes in different shades so that you can pick one that best matches your skin tone. And it goes on smoothly and easily, without any white cast at all, and feels great on my skin. While it’s only SPF 46, not 50, my dermatologist feels this is close enough. Also important to me is that it’s fragrance free, given my allergies. It advertises itself a being a product that “calms and protects skin prone to acne and rosea.” I can testify that it has prevented my face from breaking out as it usually does at the beginning of summer. I purchased the small bottle so that it would be allowed under TSA guidelines to be carried in my carry-on luggage.
