Exactly what I needed.
I've had this exact type of baby gate before but had to leave it behind in my last home. Not long after moving into my new home, the dogs I live with started occasionally walking into my bedroom to do # 1 or 2, even after they just had a walk outside. No idea why because it's not like them. They left me no choice but to get a baby gate. This was perfect, extremely sturdy, stays locked in place, tall enough they can't jump over, easy to install, easy to remove & put back & keeps them out of the bedroom. When I have more time, I'll install it as a swinging gate which I'm sure will work just as good.

Reliable, firm, better quality than wood gates.
I bought this gate about a year and a half ago for my small dogs. It worked so well that I bought two of them. I first tried the cheaper wooden gates that you can get anywhere, the ones that have notches at specific intervals. The notches mean that the gate will only expand to exact intervals of about 1 centimeter long. But what if your doorway is in between one of those intervals? Then you're out of luck! That gate won't work. Or it will require some major muscle to jam it in tightly, which becomes a pain when you have to do this several times a day. That was the case with me and probably most people. You're just lucky if it works for you in your situation. This gate doesn't have the "notch" problem like the wooden gate I mentioned has. Instead, it lets you expand the gate right up against the door frame, and then you press down on the lever mechanism to increase the pressure and lock it in place. That means it should work anywhere, not just in special cases. And pressing down hard on the lever should not cause it to break - and with the right technique, it does not require tons of muscle power anyway. Also, once the lock is tucked into one of the slots that lock it into place, it's locked. It won't unlock by accident. To unlock it, you have to press down on it with a good amount of force and twist it out of the slot. That can be a little tough for an adult to do and to figure out at first. A small child or a pet won't be able to figure out how to unlock it and won't be able to overpower it and accidentally unlock it. That wasn't the case with the wooden gates I mentioned above. All of those wooden gates I tried could easily become unlocked by accident or by simply vibrating the gate or kicking it. Some people have mentioned that their gate was too hard to use, that it required a lot of strength to push down on the lever and lock it into place. They're right, and they're wrong. Yes, if you expand the gate so it's right up against the door frame before you begin pressing down on the lever, it will require a ton of force to press down on the lever to lock it in place. So here's what you do instead: Expand the gate so that it's right up against the door frame and then back off of it by a few millimeters before pressing down on the lever. The gate will lock tightly, but it won't be very hard to press down on the lever. If it feels like you're having to press too hard, just back off a bit and retry it. It's no big deal. Five seconds of trial and error should be all that's needed. I didn't try mounting it to the wall with the included mount kit, so I can't tell you if it's good or bad for that purpose. The gate is fairly light in weight, so it's easy to pick it up and position it into place when needed. And it results in a strong fitting, so I didn't find that I needed to mount it. One other thing, it's pretty easy for me to step over. I'm 5'10" tall. And others who were just 5'1" tall have been able to step over it easily as well. It's just tall enough to block toddlers and small to mid-sized dogs, but allows kids and adults to step over it without any problems. This gate is only about $10 more than a comparable wooden gate. Believe me, it's worth it.

It's a decent gate. Helps keep baby safe.
it's a decent product for the price range. Helps keep baby safe. I like that it's expanable to make sure it's the perfect fit. My baby is still young so it act as a baracade to prevent her from roaming throughout the house. Not sure how durable it is for when she turns two years old. But for now...at the crawling and cruzing stage it seems fine and does a good job. Pros: Affordable Durable (for baby's current age and movement) Expandable to make a perfect fit I can choose which direction the gate will open It can be used as a portable gate. For example: The gate can easily and quickly be taken off the hinges (by an adult). And carried to a friends or relatives home. No brackets are required to assemble because I can tighten it to suction/mount/tighten onto a wall for additional security no tools needed.. (This is ideal for my baby's current age which is the -crawl and cruze stage). Con's Don't know how durable or secure gate will be once baby starts walking etc. It seems like once baby starts walking she can press her weight against it and I don't know how durable the gate will be at that point. Becaue the gate oes not appea to be strong enough to withstand a baby's pressing their weight against it. Perhaps it will be secure. But I don't know. Once baby starts walking I will update this post. PS. Not sure if this has to do with the product or just something you need to consider before purchasing. I placed the safety gate at the bottom of my stair case using a stud finder to secure the gate into the wall. The gate came unsecure very easily. This product does not supply screws that is used with sheet rock. And I'm having a diffiuclt time finding the right anchor for the sheet rock at home depot/hardware store. I am having a difficulties securing the gate at that location using screws. However, because my baby is still at the crawling stages I use the pressure mounting to secure the gate at the bottom of the stair case. The gate is safely and securely attaches everywhere else it is placed at. But overall, I am happy with the prouct. It is a good deal for the price. I will recommend it.

Solid, affordable gate that actually holds up against a determined toddler
We use this gate to keep our 18-month-old out of our den, which has a lot of things he definitely shouldn’t be getting into. Once installed properly, this gate does exactly what it’s supposed to do. At first, the wall cups did not hold well when we used the adhesive only. However, once we screwed them into the wall, the gate became very secure and our son didn’t stand a chance. That made all the difference. My husband put this together and said installation was easy and took about 10 minutes. It also came with hinges, which is a nice option depending on how you want to set it up. Ours stays in place most of the time, so we don’t open and close it frequently. For the price, we’re very satisfied. It feels sturdy, looks clean in the doorway, and does the job well once mounted correctly. I would absolutely recommend this gate to other parents — just be prepared to screw in the wall cups for maximum stability.

A Bit Fragile
Does its job and is somewhat easy to use once you get the hang of it, but it’s a bit fragile. I had it for a few weeks to keep newly introduced cats separated. I was a bit rough with it one day and it broke. It still functions but doesn’t create as tight of a seal now. A toddler pulling on it would be enough to take it down. It was great before though, just not built to withstand heavy handling.

Gate is great.
Is very easy to set up in a doorway and lock firmly in place. We use it to contain my dog at night.
