Versatile, simple, economical, delightful.
Three weeks after taking delivery of the Drinkmate Omni Fizz, I am extremely happy with it. I have included in my review some information that I wish I’d known before taking delivery of this item. Read on if you’re interested. How long should you hold the button down to achieve optimal carbonation? After a little trial and error, I have found it’s best to use one second pulses (count out “1 one thousand” while holding down the button). 7 to 10 such pulses works great (for the 1 L bottles, which are actually more like 850 ML bottles because of the placement of the maximum fill line. Cut that in half for the half liter bottle, of course. I have taken heed of earlier reviews, and when operating the machine, I let off the pressure after carbonation very slowly. There is a 2 inch gap between the top of the liquid in the bottle and the actual mouth of the bottle, and so when releasing pressure simply keep an eye on how much the liquid is fizzing up and release the button before the fizz reaches the mouth of the bottle. Once it settles down, release some more pressure. Rinse and repeat until the pressure is equalized, and you can remove the fizzing attachment from the mouth of the bottle. I’ve never made the kind of mess some other reviewers mentioned, simply by learning from their experience. This machine really does fizz anything. I have fizzed my iced tea, and that worked great. I’ve also started experimenting with making syrups out of berry or lemon juice and sugar, and using those to make my own sodas. They’re delicious, they’re very fizzy, and a hell of a lot cheaper than what you’d pay for something similar in the stores. Use about 1/4c syrup per 1L bottle. How long does a cartridge last? My wife and I have been drinking one to two bottles apiece a day since we got the thing three weeks ago, and we’re still on our first cartridge. If you get this thing, and especially if you share a kitchen with somebody whose beverage tastes differ from yours, you will want to order additional bottles to supplement the one 1 L and the 1/2 L bottle that come with the machine. I ordered an additional two pack of 1 L bottles and that seems to be enough. Other things I like: it’s great to have a kitchen appliance that doesn’t require electricity at all. It takes up very little counter space. It’s really simple to use. It’s also very very fast: I go from deciding I want a bottle of soda to having a full bottle of chilled soda in my hand in under a minute. Overall, this has been my favorite new kitchen purchase in some years. I use it constantly and I’m very happy with the results. Strongly recommend.

Soda Dreams, Activated—My Drinkmate is a Carbonation Game-Changer
If you told me I could turn my favorite juices into fizzy magic at home, I would’ve laughed—then handed over five bucks for another bottle of store-bought sparkling grape juice. But not anymore. Enter: the Drinkmate. This little powerhouse lets me carbonate just about anything. White grape juice? A crisp, sparkling treat. Iced tea? Fizzy and fabulous. Even water with a splash of lemon gets a glow-up. What I love most is the freedom. No more overpriced bottles taking up fridge space. I control the fizz, the flavor, the fun. And it’s insanely easy to use—no weird setup or complicated cleaning steps. Just fizz, sip, and repeat. If you're even slightly into bubbles and want to add a little sparkle to your sips, this is so worth it.

Surpasses expectations
The main reason I purchased a soda maker was to cut down on single use containers. The likelihood of plastic bottles getting recycled is about 9%. Aluminum cans are are far more likely to be recycled, but take up a lot room, and you pretty much have to finish the whole can once you’ve opened it. I ordered the Drinkmate over other brands because users seemed to think it was a better build and you can fizz up justice about any liquid. The pros are in the finished product. The machine fizzes up the water in seconds which surprised me, the ‘carbonation bottle’ has a tight seal and holds the bubbles about as long as a single use bottle, maybe longer because of the seal and rigid construction. It is very sturdy and time will tell how well the seal will hold up. The product is 5 star, but my con is that I was sent the wrong combination order to begin with. I ordered the Drinkmate, plus a full sized CO2 cartridge and a second carbonation bottle. More on the latter later. What I received was the Drinkmate, the full sized CO2 cartridge (but not the ‘starter’ cartridge that normally ships inside the machine), and a bottle of organic lemonade concentrate. It was brown an unappetizing btw. I don’t intend to fizz up already flavored drinks, and if I do, I’ll make it from fresh lemons, etc., so the syrup was a no go. I contacted the manufacturer, and they said “enjoy the lemonade syrup, it only looks bad, but tastes great”. So I contacted them again, only I mixed up my products and wrote CO2 cartridge instead of “carbonation bottle”. They said there should tbe another CO2 cartridge in the machine. I realized my mistake, and contacted them again, but didn’t get a response. I went ahead and ordered two more carbonation bottles, which are not expensive , and I feel will be very useful, as the water bubbles better when chilled, and having two bottles ready to go is more convenient than pouring chilled water from one container into another. Bottom line, Drinkmate, your product is great, easy to use and well made, and I love that I can recycle the CO2 cartridges, regardless of manufacturer. Your shipping department could use some supervision though, because I am sure there was another disappointed customer out there who received my order. I won’t blame you for not rectifying and sending what I did not receive, because of my own cognitive error when I contacted you. This is a great product and deserves the 5 stars I gave it.

Great, but so much for made in the USA!
OK, let me get the bad stuff first! Do not buy this product if you require any type of help or support from the manufacturer. They are worthless and don't give a crap about your needs in my opinion. I emailed them about the infuser cap defective issue and they just send you to some stupid links on how to use the product. I haven't got an answer or help on the infuser cap to be resolved. The infuser cap quality are terrible. The one that came with the unit was so loose when installed on the bottle it would leak out all over the place when pressurizing it. I try doing short burst and light push on the button, but it doesn't help at all. I had to buy two new infuser caps to fix the problem. The two caps I bought only one made a snug fit with the bottle. I have 4 bottles and all of them fitted well with the one that worked. The other two infuser we're all loose and leaks when in used. The manufacturer quality of these cap are poor and it doesn't look like they have any quality control apparently from make them. The one cap that work has no issue, I can blast the bottle and no leaks what so ever! OK, the good part! This little carbonation machine will work on any liquid you want to carbonate. It has a release valve to slowly release the pressure in the bottle prior to opening it. This make the carbonation process very easy. I made my own DIY carbonation unit and the hard part was removing the infuser cap on the bottle when it's under pressure. I used my DIY unit now to fill the CO2 bottle when it's empty. How to carbonated the easy way: Make sure the liquid you want to carbonated is cold. The carbonation works better when it cold, the CO2 infused better with the liquid and will make it extremely carbonated and bubbly! After you can't carbonate it anymore because the pressure release valve will vent the excess gas. Take it out of the unit and shake it for 30 sec. This will make it extremely bubbly. Leave the bottle on the counter and let the pressure release naturally. Do not do a quick release!! LOL....My kids love it when the carbonation liquid bubble in their mouths!! Beware, there is no return on Amazon with this unit if it defective! The OEM warranty is for 2 years, but I don't not know how this will work out when their support is so horrible! I think this is a US company too....so guess it the new American way of no supporting your customer if it doesn't work. So much for made in the USA! So good luck..great product, but God help you if it defective or have issues!

Good fizz and carbonation, nice industrial design, easy to use
After looking through the whole category of home carbonators, we were down to three: DrinkMate, Soda Stream Arte, and Aarke 3. Based on the ability to more accurately control the fizz amount (carbonation level), and carbonate almost any "thin" liquid in the bottle, we chose the DrinkMate. We were lucky in that three other close friends that we visit a lot, each had one of the other solutions and defended "their machine" righteously. After using all of the others, the DrinkMate seemed the best solution for our household, plus it uses a standard 60L CO2 bottle so in a pinch, you can always run to the grocery store for a back-up bottle if the party goes into the wee hours. Your happiness will be highest if you read the instructions about "going slowly" and "test carbonating" liquids other than water!!! So, don't put white wine in there for your very first test run because you will end up with sticky white wine residue in a radius of two feet around the machine on your countertop. You will go crazy with the carbonation and it will foam. Carbonate water only for awhile until you get the feel for how the process works and train your family on how to do it before you move on to other liquids. Walk before running! The industrial design of the machine is better than the others, solid construction (for the category) it's very easy to keep clean, and you control the amount of fizz you want by simply triggering the injection more or less times. It does NOT use any batteries or power! The whole thing is powered by the CO2 bottle itself, so unlike some of the other solutions on the market, you can just take it with you on a picnic or to the beach. While I *wouldn't* do that… theoretically you could (we carbonate the bottles instead and put three or four of them in the picnic cooler depending on number of guests). We bought a kit with the machine, one CO2 bottle, and one 1L and one 0.25L drink bottles. The kit was great. Five Stars. When we went to order extra 1L bottles, things got a little funky because DrinkMate insists on shipping you extra storage bottles via USPS and protected by *nothing*. They come in a brown paper sack, zero bubble wrap, thin plastic bag with the two bottles. So the first time one bottle was fine and one was severely damaged. Replacements were sent instantly and arrived in a few days. Same deal, one bottle was fine and one was slightly damaged. Given that you're going to be storing pressurized fluids in these, I find the packaging for these to be unacceptable. But… I ordered a two bottle kit, and I eventually got two usable ones, returning the two damaged ones, so I'm giving up on those by mail. I'll look for some other way to buy them rather than direct from DrinkMate unless they start packaging them better. Other than the comedy of errors on the extra bottles, we're loving everything else about our DrinkMate!

Works well
I was scared because this is the first time I'm trying to make my own soda water. I figured out as much cheaper than spend $17 at Costco for a case of sparkling water.. I get the 20 lb tank I got the filling station now my sparkling water cost me maybe 10 cents a liter.... Easy to operate, the only thing is the sparkling water not as strong than the bottle sparkling water from the store but I don't mind it's actually perfect for me....

10 minutes of hassle per drink
There is nothing technically wrong with this machine. It does carbonate everything I have tried in it. You can carbonate any amount of fluid that will fit in the bottles. I've carbonated water, Chi-Chi's Orange Cream Liquor, juice and flat soda. My issue is the time/effort/hassle involved in using it. It takes about 5-10 minutes from start to finish every time you want a soda. You have to gather and measure ingredients, use the machine, wait for it to depressurize, add your flavorings, and then hand wash all the parts and items you used to measure immediately (not dishwasher safe and the syrups gum it up if you let it wait). It takes mine about a full 90 seconds to depressurize which seems like forever when you're just standing there waiting for it knowing full well that if you had a bottle of soda in the frig you'd already be drinking by now. So bottom line for me is that every time I wanted a soda I had 10 minutes of hassle and cleaning before I could drink. Can you imagine if you have to make drinks for a whole family at this rate??? Even after I've put in that time/hassle making a drink, I have yet to make one that is better than a store bought one. I have tried Pepsi brand Soda Stream flavorings; Torani, Syruppi, and DaVinci syrups; Mio drops and Crush powders and none were as good as store bought and most left me with an odd aftertaste that I did not enjoy. I also thought it would save me money on soda but it does not. The price of syrups and CO2 come out basically the same cost as buying soda. For instance, a bottle of SodaStream syrup runs about $7 and make 9 liters. Add the cost of the CO2 and you run about $1 a liter....the same as I pay for brand name soda, less when it's BOGO. So while I appreciate it helping the planet by not adding plastic bottles and cans to our landfills, it's not saving me time or money and I don't like the way the soda flavorings taste (which I acknowledge has nothing to do with the machine itself). Even trying to return is a hassle. Amazon will not take it back and connects you directly with Drinkmate. They send you a form and you ship at your expense back to them...but only if it's in "new" condition. So if you use it, it's yours with no refund. I wasted close to $200 with this and syrups and such for it.

Gift recipient loved this
This was purchased as a present. The recipient loves it and uses it regularly to prepare carbonated drinks for the whole family. One 60L tank lasts approximately three months. Adding from an engineering point of view, despite outward simplicity, the design appears to keep the CO2 tank shut off while the device is not in use so as to prevent it from leaking gas during CO2 tank installation or over time. The only design flaw is that it is not visibly clear when the carbonation cap on the bottle is fully closed and locked. This caused a few incidents wherein the bottle detached violently during carbonation, covering the surrounding area in water. The design flaw was remedied by drawing alignment marks on the bottle and on the carbonation cap with a Sharpie. I am sure that the manufacturer could do better than this, but I shall not remove any flaws for such a negligible flaw.
