Nice size and pretty sharp right out of the box
Like most manufacturers these days Gerber products are no longer made in the company's home country-so this is made in China. Having said that, my experience of knives (not an expert) made in South East Asia is that they are usually good value and are typically sharp and hold their edges well-I'm talking culinary knives BTW. This Gerber Wingtip folding knife does not have a locking blade so is legal to carry in the UK. It feels quite sturdy but its blade size means it isn't really suitable for heavy duty outdoorsy type use. It meets my requirements for opening packages and other light duties, kerps its edge reasonably well but I find I need to strop it regularly to keep it sharp. Reasonable little pocket knife, good value, feels well made so I'd recommend it

Good blade and well made
A great little pocket knife and UK legal. I bought my original knife a few years back and subsequent purchases have been given as gifts. My original knife is constantly in my pocket and is just such a well made, useful tool.

Great little edc knife UK
Great UK legal edc knife. Useful blade size, very pocketable design. Wish the keyring hole was a little easier to use and had a little more access to the notch to open. But minor gripes. Great little knife that was razor sharp out the box and seems to hold its edge well.

Great UK-Legal Knife
Love the knife! It's the perfect length for carrying in the UK without risking breaking the law. The mechanism is robust and feels solid, and when locked in place the knife works really well for opening packages and general use tasks. It's super sharp on arrival and has so fair maintained its edge nicely. The quality and build both feel good. The finish isn't super durable - I keep the knife on my keys and it's become quite scuffed in a short period of time, but it doesn't detract from its utility as a knife. If you're fussed about keeping it aesthetically like new, don't use the built-in keyring hole to attach it to a keychain, or, if you do, get a pouch for it. Otherwise, great little knife and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat

Well made, does the job!
This is a really nicely made pocket knife, and good value. It's got a nice weight to it, and a sensible steel for the price, which can also sharpen up nicely. If you don't want the bulk of a swiss army knife, and just need a knife blade, then this could be a good choice. The good It feels really nice in the hand - the handle is made from anodized aluminium, and has enough texture that it's easy to hold on to The steel isn't the highest quality (7Cr) but it's got decent corrosion resistance, and easy to sharpen The less good If you use this as an EDC (every day carry) then the nice grey finish scrapes off (not a big deal for me) The lanyard hole is pretty small, so it's a real squeeze to get 550 7 strand paracord through, though it was possible with some persistence

Seems a good quality product.
This has an elegant shape, tactile grip and feels a reasonable weight for its size. Well packaged, sharp blade and opening and closing procedure feels safer than some folding pocket knives.

Excellent quality for the price
Superb EDC (U.K. legal - Every Day Carry) knife. I own knives costing up to 5 times what this Gerber Wingtip cost and this one wins hands down for weight, size and usefulness considering its price. It fits snuggly into the small pocket fitted to all jeans. It may not be as sharp as some of my more costly knives but 5 minutes on a 5000 grit stone soon remedied that. I am not expecting the edge sharpness to last as long as some of the others but for an everyday knife I have no problem with that. I saw one reviewer complaint about the design being bad and that the blade hits a piece of steel inside the knife. The only way that the blade on my knife could foul anything when being folded is if the knife is abused by pushing down hard on the blade when it is already folded.

Needs work.
Solidly build but the factory grind was terrible. Had to re-profile the bevel removing a fair amount of material to fix this. The edge retention is adequate for the price tag, nothing special, just adequate.

Has a nice visual design, but functionally it is hard to use. The “nail nick” doesn’t offer great grip to open the blade given how tight the blade is within the case. Definitely a two STRONG handed operation. Generally I get knives like this and find they have to be worn in to loosen up and be easier to open and close. I did that with this knife and the parts started to grind on each other and actually got harder to the point it was very difficult to open it. Two rounds of lubricant later it’s back to how slightly harder to use than it was when I got it rather than easier to use like I’d expect…
