Mercer Culinary M23570 Renaissance, 8-Inch Bread Knife

We had a decades-old bread knife from this same brand that came with our daughter's culinary school kit. It was and still is an excellent knife but at 16.25" long from tip to end, it was inconvenient to store and too much knife for our needs. This version, which is 13" long from tip to end, is exactly what we wanted. It's very sharp, well-balanced and solid. It fits well in our drawer knife rack and best of all, we can place it flat in our sink when it comes time to wash it. Compared to other brands I considered, the price, while high, is a lot more reasonable than anything else I saw. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I am very pleased with my purchase of this knife. I have a gorgeous set of Messermeister Elite knives at home, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend what it would cost to get a bread knife from that line. I recently took up baking bread and decided that the time had come to upgrade from my Lamson Sharp stamped bread knife which I've owned for the past 20+ years. This new knife feels sturdy and cuts like a dream without crushing newly baked bread. A bonus for me is that the style of the knife is close to my Messermeisters and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in the knife block.

Needed some knives for my kitchen that weren't too expensive, but still a quality product and Mercer is exactly that.

I used to think "what's the point of buying a nice bread knife? It's serrated anyway, it wouldn't matter" and I have seen the light. This knife cuts so smoothly and cleanly, it is absolutely shocking. The first time I used it, not only did I not have to sit there sawing through each slice, but there were like, three bread crumbs afterward.I bought this because I have a Mercer Renaissance chef knife, and absolutely love it. For the amazingly low price, you should absolutely treat yourself to this wonderful knife.

I continue to be impressed by the knives in this series, this one showed me how crappy my old bread knife was and i feel stupid for waiting so long to get this one. I was very wrong to assume this bread knife wouldnt be an upgrade to my cheap breadknife.

Solid, same steel as knives 3x their price, and easy sharpening because it has a half bolster. Home run.

Best series of knives for the cost. Inexpensive and so well made. Balance is great and it feels even better in your hand. Sharp and has not dulled with use.
