Please note that my review is based on the use-case that I purchased it for. My ratings are based on a single experience, not as a result of any comparison against competing units.I needed to find the property markers for the home I just purchased in order to build a fence, and I wanted to give this a shot before I spent much more on a professional survey. This was a lot more cost-effective, and it did the job well enough in the end. I may decide to use it more for finding buried goodies later on, but it wasn’t on my mind at the time of purchase.After it was delivered on time, I assembled the detector. It went together easily and took no more than a few minutes. The length is adjustable, so it is easy to find the most comfortable position. I put the batteries in and started searching.I have no experience detecting, so I set the sensitivity to max and didn’t set any metal discrimination. This probably caused me to lose some time, since I kept hearing the beeps and would start digging where I thought the buried post might be. I was getting a bit frustrated by finding a spot that would look like it was hitting a target and digging, only to find nothing. I am fully convinced that this was user-error, and not the fault of the detector.I gave up after about an hour and went back inside to read the manual. I’d seen the “Pin Point” button while I was searching, but it didn’t seem to do anything. After I read that you had to hold the button down for that feature to work, I went back outside and tried again, even though it was after dark. The yellow color was appreciated, since it was easy to see when it’s on the ground at night.Using the pin point feature, I found the buried stake in about five minutes. The detector homed right onto it, and I could watch the signal bars to find the maximum level and center the target right in the middle of the coil.The next day, I used it in the back yard and found a nail about three inches down, so it’s definitely able to find buried metal objects. I’m sure that with more practice and adjustments, you could find plenty of objects with it.Since I’m pleased that I saved several hundred dollars with this, I’m giving it a perfect score.

I purchased this metal detector for my teenage son! He has really gotten into hunting for treasures and this metal detector has been super fun for him! It also comes with a carrying bag…The metal detector fits in the carry bag best when the middle bar is detached. Everything including the headphones and shovel will fit the carry bag without issue....Very cool!!!This metal detector is super lightweight and that has allowed my son to search for hours without his arms getting tired, but so far he Has only done searching in some nearby fields and a couple people’s backyards. He is excited to be able to search more areas including the beach when we go to California! We tested the metal detector on some Gold and silver coins. As well as seeing how it reacts to steel and iron. The detector is awesome & working great!! It’s seriously only takes a few minutes to figure out how to use it properly. If you have any problems figuring it out, If you have any problems figuring it out, I suggest reading the instructions if you need help in understanding if this metal detector is detecting the metal you want. All the tests we have done with this metal detector worked great and It was a lot of fun searching our back yard and around the house for gold. In the near future, I will take my metal detector out into the real world (a park or something & hopefully the beach) and hopefully/eventually find something valuable in the grass, dirt or sand! Searching for valuables is a fun hobby and this is a great metal detector for anyone who is new to treasure hunting. Overall it has worked great and been super fun for my son! Definitely recommended!

I needed this to find an iron rod property marker, this worked. Also used to find a lost tool in the brush pile, and worked again! I watched a couple YouTube videos that were both instructional, and reviewed the product in detail. After watching it, all the controls and settings make total sense, and its basically setup for most of your needs right out of the box! I've only tested this to about 5-6" of depth and it worked, take your time, be sure you get a few hits on a spot before digging. Turn the sensitivity down 1-2 bars from full to filter out random signals it might pick up. Overall it does have a cheap flimsy feel, but if you use it normally, causally, it will hold up well.

I wish I'd had this as a teenager when I lived in a house where the first part of the house was first built in the 1700s and was the first hotel/inn in a Westchester County NY town. I bet I'd have discovered a lot. But those days are long gone, and I doubt as a kid I'd have been able to afford a metal detector with my babysitting money anyway. Where I live now, though, is an area in another state where there was a lot of revolutionary war activity and a lot of settlement activity since then so this will be an adventure. I wish I lived in England, though, because youtube videos from England and Scotland and their finds are the best and that's what led me to look further into this (as well as the series "Detectorists" which I'd give 5 stars if reviewing it). But, still, this is working just great, and I'm enjoying it already. It's pinpoint feature is very nice, I'm not sure I'm even going to need the separate pin-pointer that I bought. Also, it was very easy to assemble and came with a little pick/shovel, a set of earphones, and a bag to carry the detector. It's a very good deal. The only feature it doesn't have is a depth finder, but I don't expect it to work like a $1,000 detector and it's doing great - it's a VERY good deal for the money spent on it, especially if it lasts awhile. Well worth it!
