When you wash the gems for the first time it shows that there is a little dust on them which is normal. Sinking them in water in 48 hours before use and there was not any more dust, change in color etc. Now they are a part of the filter and believing me or not, just after 48 hours you see the positive results.

Seem to be very good I could see these doing exactly what they are made for, but are kinda fragile as well but worked great in my very small tanks. I want to try the bigger version as well
