This thing is amazing
I was concerned about leaving a firearm in my soft top jeep when I go somewhere that doesn't allow me to conceal carry, and this was the perfect solution. It is solid and much heavier duty and better quality than I expected for the price. Installation was fairly easy with the correct tools, and it fits perfectly under the seat and out of sight. The drawer has very smooth rolling bearings (enough that in a hill unlocked it would glide out on its own) but feels sturdy enough that you could probably step on the drawer while it's open and not damage it. I 100% trust that no one is getting into it without the key due to its location and construction. I absolutely recommend this for anyone with a jeep, even if it's just to throw your wallet in while you're at the beach.

Sturdy, easy install, good value
This product is sturdy and built very well. Installation was easy and took less than 30min. The instructions say, for 4 door JK, you must remove bracket securing wiring harness under seat before install. This is true, but the instructions only show it holding one harness/connector. Probably true on earlier years. My 2017 had two harnesses fed from opposite directions. I still needed to remove the bracket, but then simply tucked it out of the way on the side. With the safe in place, it supports the bracket (with harnesses connected) and keeps it from moving around. It wasn’t necessary to zip tie it through the holes as the instructions said. It is completely out of the way of the seat track and safely located. I saw some reviews about the safe drawer clunking at start/stops. People said they added rubber. I noticed when I unboxed mine, it had four rubber pads on the inside corners of the drawer already and it’s been perfectly silent installed in my Jeep. (6 spd manual). Perhaps the manufacturer has begun adding these? Anyway, quality piece of equipment, priced well, easy to install. The only negative thing might be the key lock. Nothing wrong with it, but I might rather see a combination option instead of just the tamper resistant key/lock option. Just means I’ve got to carry another key around. Not a huge deal... but in today’s age I find myself carrying less keys.

800 845-3567 Overall the boxes are great. They appear to be high quality and should ...
I purchased one of these boxes for under both the passenger and drive side of my jeep. I did not receive matching keys for the lock boxes but I contacted Bestop and ordered a matching lock and key set to one of the locks that I had. The lock, including shipping cost $12 and I had it about five days after ordering it. If you want to order matching locks call Bestop at: 800 845-3567 Overall the boxes are great. They appear to be high quality and should keep most items fairly safe. Tools you will need: T-30 bit/driver if you need to remove the electrical box mount under your seat, which I did, 18mm socket/driver to unbolt the seat, 22mm wrench to change out the lock should you choose to do so, and a Philips screw driver. Installation was fairly easy. It was challenging to get the seat bolts out as I had a 6” socket wrench but with enough force they came out. The installation on the driver side went well. On the passenger side I needed to loosen the bolts for the back of the seat to get the lock box to slide into place. My only other insight into the product is that they do stick about 2” farther than I would like them to but in the end that results in more storage.

Secure box for a great price.
I bought this box for a secure storage area in a top or doors off situation. I read another review here and was concerned about the quality of the lock. I received mine fast and was impressed with the overall quality construction of the box itself. The lock and key did seem to have quite a bit of play or slop in the mechanism when opening and closing. Just like the other review, I was not happy with the lock and planned on replacing it. I took the box to a good local locksmith shop for advice on a lock selection. I carried the box in to the locksmith and was very surprised at his advice. He told me that he could replace the lock easily but everything he sold for replacement he could pick. The lock already on the box however he said no one can pick because of its design. Also he said the keys cannot be duplicated....so do not loose them. The locksmith said the bolt and cam were nice and that the play or slop was normal part of the design. He told me he would not replace the lock if it were his own!! He looked up at me and said "this is a nice little box". I was kind of surprised to hear that from someone who could have lied and sold me a less secure lock just to make money. Install is quick and easy. I had to move a factory wire harness and added some rubber washers and a piece of rubber under the back foot the box sits on because my carpet is removed and I didn't want the metal to metal rattle. The drawer slides in and out easily and the lining is nice. Dimensions inside the box are listed, this will easily fit a reg smartphone MP3 player or camera. I mainly purchased this for storing a pistol if I go somewhere carry is not allowed. To give an idea a Glock 26/27 with the plus magazine extension and a thin IWB holster fits very easily. If you try to fit a full size large frame pistol it may not work for you. I would say most pistols intended for concealed carry compact/subcompact frames will fit.

Great safe for valuables or firearms in your Jeep.
I put off installing this for weeks because it just looked troublesome and like ... effort. Blah. It really wasn't. I ended up just putting it in, in a Wal-mart parking lot, in about 20 minutes when it was finally just taking up space in the back of my Jeep waiting around in it's box for too long. I have no idea why I waited so long. It's solid, mounted in easy, and gives me a spot to keep various things. The wire you have to 'relocate' to install it really was no problem at all - I didn't even have to use the included zip ties to be honest. If you have a the right socket, and a star-driver you can do this during the span of a short cartoon episode in your driveway - or a parking lot like I did while waiting for a friend. It's so easy, I'm ordering a passenger side version to put in as well. Having a soft top this makes me feel a ton more comfortable about some electronics that I keep in the Jeep, and when the doors are off I can be sure everything is still fairly secured when I pop in somewhere for a drink. Also it is large enough to fit a 1911 or full frame Glock.

Fits a YJ with some minor modifications.. Here's how to install.....
Received the lockbox today, fast and furious with Amazon as always. The box and lock is solid, I was very pleased with the product quality. I bought the box because I needed a place to secure my SR9.. which barely fit but still did the trick and still room left for wallets, cell phones, etc. I have a Jeep YJ, and so I was reluctant that the box would fit even though one review said they had installed it in theirs. So I took the chance and ordered it since I couldn't seem to find an under seat lockbox for my model Jeep. SO I gave it a shot and with some minor mods and adjustments the box was mounted in under an hour. Here is what I did.. 1. Test fit the box under the seat, slide it back until it feels like it sits snug and square in the recess, (you will see that it will fit further under the seat unlike the model Jeeps its originally made for). Make sure that the box is as far left to the drivers door as it will go, overlapping the the seat frame. You will find it fits snug when the box mount is about 2 inches back from the seat frame mount bolt. 2. Once you have the box "snug", (remember the mount on the box will be about 2 inches behind the seat mount bolt and overlapping the seat frame), mark a spot on the floor to drill a whole on the mount closest to the passenger seat. 3. Remove the seat. 4. Drill a hole at the mark you made for the box mount. IMPORTANT~~ Make sure you make a hole small enough that you will be able to ratchet in a "self tapping" bolt so it tightens WITHOUT a nut! You will not be able to to put a nut on the bolt because there is a body support directly under where you will be drilling. 5. Place the box and start the bolt through the hole. DO NOT tight just yet. 6. Place the seat back in. Make sure the seat frame is on top of the box mounting ear closest to the door.. This will be how that mount is secured to the floor on that side. 7. Replace all the seat bolts and tighten, the tighten the bolt on the outer mount of the box. DONE!! In most cases the seat bolts probably have never been removed so I would recommend soaking them with WD40 about 30 minutes to an hour before trying to wrench on them. Having an air ratchet will make the job much easier too. See pics I posted for visuals on how to mount.

Great little storage box, strong and discreet
I have a 2008 jeep wrangler, install was easy, at first I used a standard ratchet for the seat bolts and I could not crack them, when I used a little price of pipe for extension and they loosened right up. I did see some complaints about the lock and I wonder if the manufacturer upgraded it, key slides in and turns the lock without issue, the lock is strong, and it's a big enough draw that slides very easily and very accessible. I was too lazy to loosen the back bolts so I just bolted it over the seat frame rare than under, I was close maneuvering it under the frame, however the cold weather and my lack of patience got the best of me. The box is such a simple idea but nice for sticking your wallet for tolls or hose parking cards I always lose when I drive up to the exit and have to insert the card to pay and get out. Metal is hick and brackets are very strong, heavy weight and a real bargain.

Well built storage system for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
This is well built locking storage system for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's by Bestop! This unit is made of heavy gage steel and I feel it would take a while to pry it open and or damage the key hole lock, due the front entry door being just slightly set back inside the frame. It provides enough storage for a hand gun, wallet, cell pone, sunglasses or whatever that is not too tall or wide. This unit comes with 2 keys and was packed very well, so don't worry about shipping damage because its packed very well. This storage box was very easy to install by screwing 7 phillips head screws to mount the seat bolt mounting bar and the rear spacer to make it level with the floor. The just loosen the front seat frame bolts and remove a wiring support bracket from under the seat, that will be in your way on the 2013 and newer Unlimited's by removing two T-30 torx screws from the in of the seat track. I was able to do this using a T-30 torx screwdriver without removing the seat or loosening the rear seat bolts at all. Then side the box in under the seat while guiding the seat wiring above the storage box and re-secure the two front seat bolts. The entire install process took 15 minuets.
