These Nikons collect plenty of light and clear, sharp images - even at the higher zoom settings.
I researched binoculars for a while before deciding to purchase these for my wife's birthday. She had developed a love of bird-watching recently after we had joined a group in the local mountains that was keeping track of a local pair of mated bald eagles. After going up the mountain to watch the nest (from a distance) we decided that we needed a higher quality of binocular. That brought us to these Nikons. Not only are they from a well-known name with a reputation for quality, they were also actually in our affordability range. Double win! The quality of the lenses is evident, especially when approaching twilight when as much light capture as possible is required. They might be a bit heavy for some folks due to the quality materials, which makes it nice that a tripod adapter is included. The lens covers are also a nice touch. These binoculars also have a very decent 10-22x50 magnification and the clarity is good throughout the range. To top it off the kit includes the normal accessories of a cleaning cloth, a lens pen, carrying case, and a neck strap. We're happy with this purchase and I'll probably end up getting a pair for myself!

Hard to beat for the money
I was looking for an affordable alternative to a spotting scope and wanted binoculars of at least 20x for good range and ease on the eyes. I own a compact pair of Nikon zoom binos and a couple of their rifle scopes and have been pretty satisfied with the scopes and reasonably satisfied with the binos for what they cost so I thought I'd roll the dice on these. I had read reviews on other similar binos by other brands but came to the conclusion that they had quality control issues and you either got a good pair or you didn't. First impressions out of the box, as other reviews have said, the lens covers are pretty much junk. That's okay with me as these will be in their case with the lens covers on when not in use. The tripod adapter is a joke. The two holes that the thumb screw is supposed to go through are threaded and the adapter is so thick that when you remove the thumb screw from the binos it isn't long enough to go through the adapter and thread back into the binos. I called Nikon and they are supposed to send a replacement. We will see what I get. I was able to replace the thumb screw with a bolt of the same thread and adapt it. Then the part that is supposed to mount to the tripod has a similar issue. Made another modification for a quick disconnect plate and mounted it to my ball joint tripod. At this point you're probably wondering why I gave this 5 stars. It was an overcast day and I took the binos outside on the tripod and focused on the top of my mountain about 17 miles away with a 5,000' elevation above mine. I could count the trees on top of the mountain! No edge distortion. Just a crisp, clear picture of the top of the mountain at 22x. The zoom lever moves smoothly and of course refocusing is required when zooming in or out as well as readjusting the left eye diopter, physics you just can't get around, but if you use the main focus on the right eye to get a crisp picture and then dial in the left eye diopter you will get a very clear picture. The binos are lightweight. The eyecups are somewhat adjustable. I adjusted the eye cups all the way out because I don't wear glasses and they binos still fit in the case. Overall, for the cost, weight and quality these are impossible to beat. They also come with a cleaning cloth and a "lens pencil" which are nice additions. For my hunting purposes, I shouldn't need more than the 22x to spot game and identify whether it's something I'm going to pursue. My binos I hunt with are 10x40 high quality for spot and stalk or glassing an area where 10x will suffice but these will give me a larger field of view with a higher magnification and will be the perfect "sit and glass" for extended hours without the eye fatigue you get looking through one eye through a spotting scope with the other eye closed. Honestly, I wasn't expecting that much based on the price but had they been double the price would still be very happy with the image quality.

Good binoculars
I bought these for ship watching off the Outer Banks of North Carolina. They work fantastic. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to hold them steady enough at full zoom, but it's not really been a problem as long as you have a firm place to rest your elbows. I can even use them to zoom in on the F-18 Hornets that fly over here all the time. Clarity is very good on minimum zoom but slightly less so when fully zoomed to 22X (it's still good...just not as good). I think that's to be expected, especially for binoculars in this price range. BTW, the zoom feature is super easy to use even while looking through them - just move the lever with your thumb. I have to agree with almost all the other reviews that the lens caps are almost totally worthless. Not only do the eyepiece caps fall off when you turn it upside down, but the objective caps are designed to thread into the strap rendering the strap all but impossible to suspend from your neck, and these caps are difficult (slow) to remove if the strap isn't threaded through them. All that being said, these are great, reasonably priced binoculars to view things from your house or apartment, but the lense caps prevent them from being very practical for field use. I knew about the cap problems going into it because I read all the reviews, but I didn't much care since I only planned to use them from home, so I really can't complain too much.

Great value and very good optics in an inexpensive yet well-made binocular
I was pleasantly surprised by these binoculars in two ways. First, the ones I ordered were used/refurbished, but when I unboxed them, all the accessories were there, perfect or unopened and the binoculars looked brand-new. Second, Nikon has put all the essential engineering and build quality into these to achieve very good optical performance, particularly given the challenges of making a good variable magnification optic. At 10x magnification, the field of view is clear, bright, and free of any visible fringing or chromatic aberration. Eye relief is adequate to preserve a full field of view with my glasses on as long as the rubber eyecups are folded back. Since I have astigmatism, I can't just dial out blurriness with diopter correction. At full magnification, you just begin to see some color fringing at the edges, but overall image quality remains surprisingly good. I can make out detail at a distance better with two eyes at 22x magnification than I can with a 30x monocular spotting scope. With the included tripod adapter attached, these make a great rifle range optic. Out hunting, I'm spoiled by the ability to steady these against something and zoom in for otherwise indiscernible detail. This is a great value in a highly versatile optic.

Fine product, great value with the accessories.
We are happy with the binoculars for several reasons including; a) the range of magnification, b) ease of use. c) quality, and d) accessories. We are getting great views of deer (including 3 newly born fawns) and far off birds (turkeys, hawks, ospreys) using 22x magnification with the binoculars mounted on a tripod (the included tripod mount is essential at high magnification levels). The focus wheel operates smoothly making it easy to get sharp images. So far, we feel the features and accessories make this a very good value for the price. (We readily admit our comparison set is limited to these and a 40-year old pair of 8.5 x10 Bushnells.)

Excellent binoculars
These were purchased primarily for watching birds and whales in Maui. The optics are excellent. The zoom setting is easy to use and the magnification numbers seem accurate. The images are not as sharp as image stabilized canon 18x50, or Nikon image stabilized 16x42.. However at 1/10 the price of the image stabilized glasses, these seem an outstanding value. I bought a second pair. Since they are not waterproof, I would probably be careful about using in the rain or anywhere they might get wet. I haven’t tried them on a boat, but the image stabilized choices would probably be better in that setting, Overall a great purchase and excellent value.

Nice quality and the extra zoom is Amazing
I prefer a vivid and sharp image, which is why I chose Zeiss binoculars for my 8x42. After testing various models, including the Nikon Monarch, I found that Zeiss offered superior clarity and image quality. The distinction between the two brands is significant. Although I initially sought additional zoom capabilities that Zeiss did not provide, I ultimately opted for the Nikon, which proved to be an excellent decision. The clarity of the sight picture is impressive, especially with steady hands. I purchased these binoculars in very good condition for approximately $120, and I am quite satisfied with their overall quality.

Crystal Clarity
Wife loves to bird watch! She had a pair of fixed bio's. We put up some nice Bird Feeders about 70 ft from back of the house and I wanted to give her close ups of birds that are in the area or arriving in the spring. This pair does the job! Excellent Clarity on Low & High Zoom! You can see the birds really up close, just lovely to view through. I will add I purchased a tripod to set bios on after reading reviews. You will need to be able to keep them in a fixed position when Zooming in and adjusting for crystal clarity. But it is all worth it. I have found myself looking at the birds as much ( maybe more ) then the wife. This is a Quality Product.
