It’s powerful enough for my needs, and the hardware seems reliable. Great choice for anyone looking for a solid mid-level server at a reasonable price. Definitely satisfied with the purchase!

I bought this server to get more familiar with ESXI and VMware. It runs ESXI 6.5 U3 with no issues (you could likely get it to run 7.0). For $350, this server was the best value I saw on Amazon. Almost 2TB of storage and 128GB of RAM is more than enough for most people and it has plenty of network cards. It was packed well and arrived quickly. If I had to complain about something, it certainly did not fit the Amazon renewed description of having no/few visible scratches. You can definitely tell it’s been used before but the wear is pretty normal for a rack server and has no impact on performance. Also you will want to have a monitor/keyboard to set it up. The IDRAC interface is on the free license and doesn’t support remote console. It also has to be set up before you can access the web interface. Finally, make sure you grab an update iso file from Dell’s website. The BIOS and other firmware is a bit outdated but making a bootable USB from the iso file will update it all in about 20 mins. Overall, 10/10 recommend!

It performs. It has everything Dell going for it. The renewed part is the tricky part. It means that it was used somewhere and then another company bought it and renewed it to Amazon’s RENEWED requirements. Even then, the company that stands behind it is the key to whether or not you have a functional device and whether you will be satisfied. IT Superstore is the company that renewed mine. I had some problems with RAM, as many who have reviewed the Dell R620 series have noted. I followed the usual swap DIMMs procedure and finally called IT Superstore at the number on the tag they provided with the hardware. They walked me through support, then shipped replacement DIMMs, then continued diagnosis, then shipped a replacement Main board, then walked me through the final processes to get it all running. I further complicated matters by delaying my actual startup of the machine by 89 days, so the issues were all discovered and dealt with AFTER the 90-day warranty had expired. I bough this server around beginning July but I did get chance to set it up until December 2025. After I start working on it I found that Raid control is not working. As the return option is over plus returning a server is not easy. So when we buy renewed item, you assume that it was checked for issues before they sell it. But off course they do not. So My advise as soon you get your item check it for issues immediately.

This is exactly what I was looking for within my home environment and the machine itself runs great, however the machine arrived with a bend in a bracket of one of the Power Supply units, blocking where the plug goes in. Also, please note - you are unable to install ESXi 7 on this due to this model running an unsupported HD controller (6.7 works fine, but is being EOL'd at the end of October 2022.)

I bought this server for a new homelab setup. The server arrived quickly and in excellent condition. It was spec'd better than what I originally ordered, and the vendor communicated this before shipping. Now, I'm happy with the server, but more importantly, I'm very happy with StrongIT. I had a problem with the power supplies and contacted StrongIT. Without question, they immediately shipped me two more power supplies, arriving just a few days later. I had a few more questions and they were very friendly and responsive. At some point I will be adding two more of these Dell r620 servers and already plan on purchasing them from StrongIT. I've purchased (2) PowerEdge R620s, (2) Precision T5810s, and (2) Precision T3600s from PCSP on multiple orders. I was a Dell field tech in a previous life and every single one of the machines were in tip-top shape. I had a minor issue with one of the devices and calling the PCSP support team was like calling Dell support back in the day--super easy to work with and part replacement offered for self-repair. I'm spending too much money buying renewed hardware from PCSP, but that's a good thing!

Purchased this, having zero knowledge of server based tech. And while all the specs are dated, for the price it's fantastic. I'm currently running multiple game servers and a plex, from said server with windows server 2019. Will use this seller again in the future
