Directions were easy and simple to follow. Tested water straight out of well then water at the tap after the softener. What a difference. I now know that my softener is working.

I took sample of my well water and it showed around 10 grains then I tested my house water which is treated with softner and it read between 0 and 1.5 grains. Very happy with test stips and price is great

I purchased an espresso machine for a birthday present and wanted to know if our water softener was doing the job to keep the water soft. I live in the Rockies and water hardness in my town is 200 - 300 ppm (or 11.7 - 17.5 grains per gallon). That's HARD water. I tested my softened water and straight tap water. The test strips worked to a tee. I gave the product 4 stars because it took longer than a minute to get the result. Additionally, on the strip I used for tap water the reagent never completely turned orange, even after sitting on the kitchen counter all night. If you buy these be aware that only the tip of the test strip has a reagent which shows hardness. The box instructions show a strip with 5 different hardness levels, which was a bit confusing. I kept waiting for the hardness levels to appear til I realized how the strips worked. All in all, good product.

Product is excellent for determining that hardness lies within one of 6 broad ranges. Product cannot be evaluated for accuracy because the 6 color ranges do not provide adequate precision.

I bought the Life2 calcium test strips because I wasn't sure our Aqua Check hot tub test strips were giving us an accurate reading. Yesterday we drained our hot tub and refilled it using our new (recommended) hose filter and took the first reading. L2 strips and AC strips showed extremely low calcium levels. The filter was TOO darned efficient for a hot tub because (so I have been told) low calcium will give you itchy skin! I added some calcium back into the hot tub. The AC strips reacted to the improvement but the L2 strips gave the same green reading as before. I repeated the addition 2 more times until AC indicated I was at the top end of acceptable calcium levels for a hot tub (250ppm). L2 remained green which indicates the softest of water as opposed to its opposite orange indicating 250ppm hard water. I was conflicted. Which was the true reading? This morning I woke up with an epiphany: test the house tap water which produces HEAVY calcium deposits on our tea kettle and humidifiers. The L2 strip remained green!! The pamphlet that came with this product expressed deep and caring concern for the quality of the world's water citing Flint, MI and other disasters. Using L2s strips was almost a disaster for us. If I had added any more calcium, we would have had to drain 250 gallons of water and start over again! I will be returning these strips and will never question Aqua Check's readings again!

It seems to work well - I have no basis of comparison. However I did not realize that it only had 90 days of life after opening. It does say that in the detailed description, but I did not notice that until it arrived. I was planning on using the 100 strips monthly for several years. Not sure what good 100 strips are if you have to use them all in 90 days.

Left strip was taken from water at the tap (after our softener) and right strip from source (pre-filter and softener). Both tests taken minutes apart and got results immediately. I'd say it works reasonably well!
