This is my very spoiled Australian Shepherd's favorite toy. He gets about one a month and will play with it until we toss the remainder and he gets a new one.1st stage- wants to play tug and slobber2nd stage- Squeaker Must be Unalived3rd stage- chews the tail off4th stage- stuffing comes out (we take it from him and pull it all out)5th stage- more tug, slobber, and chewing until it's just a small scrapThere are a few strings that come out when he's getting to the 3rd stage, but it's really not that bad. The stitching is great, so it's only when he's really going at it. It's also stinking adorable, and we call it his baby because he has so much fun with it.For under $10 a month, we get to get rid of the old one and give him a new one, so it's very affordable to keep our house a little less gross while he still gets to use the toy/comfort item he likes.

Puppy loves it. Well built and fun for her to play with.
My double doodle mix loved this toy. It is well made and she loves the different texture of the rope. Sadly she has already torn the rope apart and so now it’s just the leather part. This would be the perfect toy for non agressive chewers. Wish the rope lasted a little longer. SPOT is my new favorite company to get her chew toys from now. They’re well built and aren’t expensive like all the other dog toys out there.

Always looking for less destructible dog toys
The media could not be loaded. I am constantly searching for aggressive chewer dog toys. So many claim to be and one look and you know they haven’t met your dog!! Our golden retriever is so sweet until he gets his claws and teeth into a new toy. We nicknamed him the shredder, as he rips his new toys to pieces. I accidentally stumbled across this toy. We have never owned a leather dog toy. The squirrel is going to give Maverick a run for his money. The edges are double sewn closed. I am very impressed with the quality of this toy for $5.75 which includes the sales price and an additional 10% off coupon. Even without those two incentives the toy is less than $8 prime. The other shapes are similar or cheaper in price and now I see a 50% off 1 toy coupon when you buy 2. What a deal and the squirrel has a squeaker inside. What I like about the squirrel is that there’s less limbs or appendages for Maverick to shred off. The bunny has ears, the raccoon has hands, the buffalo has legs, the bone and retriever stick have a rope, the bear has a neck and head that could be chewed off, similar to the fox who has a tail and snout. The squirrel looks like it would be harder to destroy! The squeaker was hard to push at first but is easier now. Maverick has a black lab sister who loves squirrels, more so than she loves toys, and I found this toy searching for squirrel toys for her. It is offered in 8 other shapes. The squirrel measures almost 8” tall by 5” wide. It’s perfect for a medium or large size dog. Based on the construction of this squirrel dog toy it looks acceptable for an aggressive chewer and won’t break the bank. It’s very affordable. Always supervise! Updates to follow at Christmas:). BTW, the squirrel did not smell bad upon opening.

Need two rope handles on either side.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Got this to replace my hands during play time with my 6 month old German Pit puppy. It works, sort of. My complaint is that he very much prefers the rope handle over the rest of toy, which happens to be where my hand is. What makes it more difficult is the squeaker is just under the handle as well. Perfect for getting his attention, but if he’s going for the spot that squeaks….also right near my hand. For the money it still suffices to get his attention from other things as well.

Easy to destroy but my pup loves it!
My 80 pound pitty loves destroying these! He can pretty much destroy any toy and quick! If you are looking for durability, this isn’t it if you have a strong chewer. If you don’t mind your pup ripping out its guts then this is perfect!

Nevertheless, she persisted!
Add a necessary level of frustration to your dog’s life! The 18 months old coonhound makes short work of most dog toys. But she was at this for the better part of a month before she declared herself the victor! She kept after it and after it - she might put it as aside for a little bit, but she always came back to it.A real plus was there weren’t countless scraps of fabric annd stuffing all over the floor — most of which had to be vacuumed up and some of which there was always concern might have been ingested. This toy presents a good challenge at a good price.

Would NOT Recommend for Aggressive Chewers...
Item is very nice. However, unfortunately for my puppy (she's a Jack Russell Terrier Beagle mix), she literally had this in her mouth for barely 10 mins. She loved it, don't get me wrong. But OMG, she tore off a portion of the raccoon's face and proceeded to start eating the filling! 😩 I was lucky to have caught her very quickly and had to pry her mouth open and pull out a long piece of filling. I'm not blaming the manufacturer of these products. However, they do mention these ARE for aggressive chewers. So I thought, OK, I know she is. She's about 7.5 months now, recently spayed. Very friendly, I mentioned her breed mix, healthy and has that Terrier playfulness so far ANY chewer you must be at least hardy enough to hold up for a little while; especially when they mention its for "aggressive chewers." I couldn't believe she got to this one so fast. She has a rubber Kong bone which she loves, chews her heart out and plays fetch with us and it's holding strong! Also the smaller blue chew balls in we which you can put small kibble in if you wish...that is still holding well. I'm just adding this information in case you have an adult or puppy like mine who may be similar. Be wise if ordering. BTW, my puppy is about 19 lbs and has pretty much reached her full adult weight.I also have an adult male Chiweenie who is five and a half, 18 lb. While he's a fairly strong little guy, this would be great for him. So overall this toy ISN'T bad. I'd say it's not quite as tough to hold up to an aggressive chewer as they advertise. Just please be careful.

One of my dachshunds is very toy picky. He really likes these. He can chew them up very quickly. He remove the squirrel's leg in about 15 minutes.Cute and fun but not very durable.
