David Attenborough (34) (Little People, BIG DREAMS) : Sanchez Vegara, Maria Isabel, Noh, Mikyo: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Inspiring, engaging and perfectly pitched for young readers - Like many titles in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series, this book about David Attenborough is a real gem. It manages to capture the essence of an extraordinary life in a way that’s both accessible and inspiring for children. The narrative is simple enough for young readers to follow, yet thoughtful enough to convey the sense of curiosity, wonder and respect for nature that defines Attenborough’s work. The illustrations are lovely - colourful, expressive and full of personality, with each perfectly complementing the story and helping to bring key moments to life visually. My daughters were instantly drawn to the art style, and it’s one of those books they often choose to revisit on their own. What stands out most is how well the book balances storytelling and inspiration. It doesn’t just recount achievements; it encourages young readers to see the world as something to explore and protect. The tone is uplifting and warm, and it’s clear why this series has become such a favourite among parents and teachers alike. David Attenborough himself is a particularly engaging subject, and the book does an excellent job of showing his lifelong passion for wildlife and the natural world. It’s sparked several conversations in our home about animals, conservation and the importance of curiosity - exactly the kind of inspiration you’d hope for. Review: Extremely expiring! - My son absolutely adored the story of David Attenborough. The quality of the book is excellent, The pages feel like really nice paper. The illustrations are just mesmerisingly beautiful. Superb storyline very informative. Little David Attenborough grew up in Leicester on the campus of a university, where his father was a professor. As a child, he spent hours in the science library, collating his own specimens and creating a mini animal museum. When he was old enough to go to university, he studied science and zoology—but what he wanted most of all was to be close to the animals he was studying. So, he started working in television, visiting animals in their natural habitats, and telling the world the untold stories of these animals. This moving book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the broadcaster's life. Little People, BIG DREAMS is a best-selling series of books and educational games that explore the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists. All of them achieved incredible things, yet each began life as a child with a dream. This empowering series offers inspiring messages to children of all ages, in a range of formats. The board books are told in simple sentences, perfect for reading aloud to babies and toddlers. The hardcover versions present expanded stories for beginning readers. Good
Bought for my seven year old granddaughter. She was delighted with the book. Inspirational? I’m not sure. Could have been slightly more encouraging to a young mind (only my opinion).
