Lens Tripod Mount Ring Collar for Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L is II USM or EF 70-200mm f/4L & EF 70-200mm f/4L IS Replaces Canon A-2 Durable ABS -White

The most things to know about this product are: a). It is almost identical to the Canon product and it fits the Canon EF 70-200mm lens perfectly and b). This collar is a fraction of the cost of the Canon collar for almost the same exact thing. This collar works fine and it is important when you are investing $1000+ in a lens to not have it tip over when on the tripod. I typically only use Canon on Canon products, however, it seemed silly to spend over $125 more for an same for the same quality item.

Item was a perfect match for my Canon EF 70-200mm 1:4 L IS USM zoom lens.

Edit:I am upgrading my rating to four stars because I cannot completely discount the possibility that the cracked hinge I describe in the original review below was caused by accidental damage I caused myself, and it would be unfair to penalize this otherwise fine product over something I cannot be 100% sure of.Original review:I purchased this tripod mount ring about a year and a half ago, and used it regularly until yesterday when I discovered a crack through the plastic at the hinge. The crack means it can fail at the hinge at any time, and since I won’t risk dropping expensive equipment the ring is now useless.It’s a shame because in every other way it is was an interesting and useful device that would have rated four or five stars, but how else can you rate a device that can cause you to drop your gear unexpectedly? Perhaps my ring took a knock I hadn’t noticed or something I did unknowingly contributed to its failure, which is why I’m not giving it one star.For those that have this ring I recommend inspecting the hinge frequently for any sign of cracking, and discarding the ring immediately if any cracks appear. I am replacing my failed plastic ring with one made from aluminum.

I wish that Amazon would measure the products and publish the dimensions so that I don't have to guess if an item will fit or not. I took a chance on this fitting my Cannon lens which is 70MM in diameter. This mount is only 65MM in diameter.

This is made of plastic instead of metal but for the great price I think it more than exceeds expectations.

I needed a lens mount for some events I'll be shooting. I needed to be able to switch from portrait to landscape quickly. It is pretty stable and steady and doesn't switch position that easily so I used a piece of paper towel and cut it out to the width of the ring and then tightened it up and now I can easily swivel from portrait to landscape. But the product is good. Works fine
