Stahl's Illustrated Violence: Neural Circuits, Genetics and Treatment

Very informative and filled with great information about an issue not easily treated. I will be using this as a reference for clinical practice. Stahl, as always, does not disappoint.

Excellent in that dissects "violence" into subtypes, discusses theoretical neurophysiology, and approaches to each. Great resource.

There is only little information in the book that was new to me, it was more like common knowledge. The comments below the figures are too vague and short. There is also a lot of typos. This book definitely needs a revision. Moreover, it came folded. Not worth the money…

A very concise book on understanding and treating violence.

This is a very good overview of the rationale in pharmacological approaches to the treatment of violence,especially the use of antipsychotics. However,the use of other psychotropics isn’t handled so well. This may be because the use of other psychotropics doesn’t have as much evidentiary support as the use of antipsychotics. At any rate,the result is a sense of imbalance.

L'ouvrage se lit facilement pour les étudiants et les non spécialistes de la question. L'approfondissement est toujours possible à travers la bibliographie si le propos clair vous semble simpliste.

Helpful information when all else has failed and you need to prescribe. There is so little guidance out there on this controversial issue that it is comforting to know that there is some rationale that can be explored. Perhaps a little less groping in the dark.
