Inheritance: The Inheritance Cycle, Book 4

Amazing conclusion and well written all around
Pretty self explanatory, the book draws the series to a satisfying but bittersweet ending. The way Eragon wins is reasonable, the action scenes are written amazingly as usual, and the POVs mix together well and never feel like they're wasting time.I both love and hate the ending, it makes sense but it's so sad!

A Spectacular Finale for a Spectacular Series
Before I begin, let me just say that I'm a huge fan of the Inheritance Cycle. I fell in love with the Eragon when I listened to the audio book, and ever since then, I've awaited each book with much anticipation. And I haven't been disappointed. The 1st book was excellent. Eldest was even better. Brisingr wasn't as good, I still don't understand why it's titled that since the sword doesn't appear till more than 3/4 the way through. Inheritance was the best and was a fitting conclusion. In fact, in my opinion, it's the best fictional book, even better than the Lord of the Rings. In each of the books, Eragon and Saphira, mostly Eragon, have some character growth. The best kinds of heroes are the kinds that grow through their adventure. What makes Eragon so good is his determination to fight, no matter the odds, and his faithfulness to his friends. As Murtagh tells him; "That was always the difference between you and me. You were willing to sacrifice yourself." A true hero is someone that puts others before themselves and that's what Eragon does throughout the series.Galbatorix was one of the best villains I've ever read about. He leaves no gaps for Eragon to defeat him, bringing to mind a paper titled, The Top 22 Things I'd do if I Ever Became an Evil Overlord. He's an almost perfect villain. His defeat was pretty clever on Christopher and Eragon's part. I know I would never have thought of that. I'm glad that we're finally introduced to Shruikan, although I'm still not quite clear on how big he is. I thought he was pretty cool, even if he was one of the evilest things in the story, because: HE'S A DRAGON! Who doesn't think dragons aren't cool! Some of the coolest dragons are the bad ones, Smaug comes to mind.I want to now address the two biggest complaints about the book. One common complaint is Christopher's writing. Many of the reviewers complained that he spells thing wrong or misses a comma, etc... What book has no mistakes whatsoever? Every book ever written has some mistake in the writing. Is that any reason to give the book three stars? No. The second and most common complaint was the ending. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but just remember Angela's prediction about Eragon's life. Don't forget, either, what the Ra'zac told Eragon before it died, see Brisingr pg 65. I agree, the ending was not what I hoped for, I almost cried, but it was still a very, very good ending and I find myself hoping for a fifth book. The finish called to mind the ending for The Return of the King, which was equally as sad. It was a very well written conclusion; heartwarming and heart wrenching at the same time. All in all: Great story, great characters, great dragons, great fight scenes, great dialogue, especially the discussion about the Vault of Souls, see pg 378-397, where I found my head hurting, and finally, great conclusion. This is defiantly a fabulous finale and I find myself bidding farewell, to Eragon and Saphira, with a heavy heart. This, after all, is my favorite series of books. But Christopher did say that he will return to Alagaesia once more so I think that Christopher's next book should be about Angela, since there are still many mysteries that remain unanswered about her. In the end, I praise Christopher Paolini for a spectacular conclusion for a spectacular series. This epic novel defiantly deserves five out of five stars. Great Job Christopher! Elrun ono!(Thank you!)

Great series!
This is a very imaginative series so I purchased the books. However, all books from Amazon come looking scrapped and damaged. Otherwise the books are an interesting read and I recommend.

Galbatorix goes down
I jumped to read the first book in this series, Eragon, then waited a long time for book two. But I forgot to look for the third book around it's due date, just got busy and dropped the ball, lol. But then I heard book 4 was out, so I went looking for the book I'd missed, #3. I'm so glad I did, it was a fantastic, fun read. Very satisfying to have the "ending" of my the challenge, defeating Galbatorix and his terrible partner, Shruikan, all wrapped up in a sweet adventure. It wasn't all sweet, the heroes fought, were tortured, or lost significant loved ones, yet their perseverance was repaid. I liked the ending of Sloan, and especially the involvement of the werecats. And my favorite (?witch?), Angela, was full of surprises and useful in this adventure tale, kind of a deux ex machina instead of a Mary Sue plot device. Now I can read the next book, Murtaugh, a character I have been crushing on since seeing the Eragon movie. Now I can't picture Murtaugh as having any other face, and I'm dying to see what story arc he will pass through on his way to redemption!!

Great Ending to the Series - Spoiler alert
After reading many of the other reviews, I decided to write my own review of the book.First let me say that there is almost never a good ending to a book series for the simple fact that people don't want to see a series end. Each individual person develops their own understandings of the characters and story and as a result draw their own conclusions on how things should end.Paolini stated in advance that he was not going to answer all the questions in this book. However, I feel that he answered questions that he ultimately needed to answer and left the others shrouded in mystery. For example, Angela the herbalist has been shrouded in mystery throughout the whole series and that is exactly how she is pictured time and time again. As a character, Angela doesn't want to be "known" and Paolini honored his development of the character and left her shrouded in mystery. Many reviewers refer to being disappointed in how things ended with Arya and Eragon. They point to book one where Angela foretold the romance, but they forget that Angela also said, "I cannot say if this passion will end happily." Angela also foretells that Eragon is going to leave Alagaesia forever. Throughout the books, Eragon is developed as a character and moves from a self-centered worldview into a much more selfless worldview. His training with the elves and his continued enlightenment throughout the book demonstrate this. Hence, Eragon makes his decisions at the end of the book based on his sense of duty and doing what he feels is best for the greater good of everyone. Arya is developed as one who very rarely thinks of herself and instead is one of duty and responsibility. Despite her becoming closer to Eragon, this sense of duty is still very evident throughout the series. Paolini ended the book based on how he developed the characters and to do so any other way would have gone outside the boundaries of their character. While I desired for Eragon and Arya to be together, I knew that they couldn't be together. Many reviewers were also disappointed in the "romance" between Murtagh and Nasuada. Again, Paolini stayed true to how he developed his characters throughout the book. There is no way that Murtagh would have been graciously forgiven by the Varden and people of Alagaesia overnight. Murtagh also had need to doing his own soul searching since the passing of Galbatorix left him in need of finding a new meaning in life. Nasuada had her responsibilities and duty but yet Paolini shows her longing for Murtagh and near the very end she was happy about some news that she had received and you can only assume it was regarding Murtagh. In the end, Paolini once again ended it one of the only ways that he could. The final battle with Galbatorix was exactly how it should have been. Galbatorix had more strength and therefore would have to be defeated another way than a show of strength. Eragon and the dragons not only made him understand but they use the immensity of all of their combined hurts and emotions to drive the point home. Also Shruikan died because an ancient magical weapon went through his eye and therefore into his brain. No matter how big and fierce he was, he was first of all enslaved to Galbatorix only doing as commanded and second of all that was a lethal blow for any enemy regardless of size. Paolini had left Galbatorix shrouded in mystery throughout the whole series and preferred to leave him shrouded in mystery even in this last book.I guess I am one of the few reviewers who think that Paolini concluded this series in a great way. I am thoroughly satisfied with how the series ended and I feel that Paolini stayed true to the series in this last book and true to his characters. Not every story had a grand happy ending because life still must go on and people still have responsibilities and duties. Therefore, this ending may be more difficult to swallow, but in the end it is much more realistic to how things work out in life and also to the way that Paolini developed the characters and story throughout the entire series.

Incredible story telling
Gripping, emotional, exciting. The main characters are so deep! But most of all, I love that it takes you on a journey to a different world and thereby takes off my thoughts of my everyday business. Absolutely worth reading. Strongly recommend it.

La edición más bonita
Lo compré porque no reponían el libro en tapa dura en español. Ha resultado ser la edición que buscaba, todo el libro en color. Es más grande y más bonito que los otros 3, contenta con mi decisión.
