The convenience of this product along with my family's lengthy love affair with Tide (my grandmother would never have dreamed of using anything else in her wringer washer) makes it the laundry detergent today of choice in my HE washer even after a few mishaps. It is remarkably simple - throw in a Tide pod, load your clothes and hit the button to wash. Done!HOWEVER, there have been a few ruined clothes along the way until I learned what I was doing wrong. You must put the Tide pod in first and pile the clothes on top. This gives the pod time to start dissolving before the actual "washing" begins. Second, and most importantly, never use it with cold water AND a super short cycle. The pod must have time to properly dissolve so your clothes don't come out with purple blotches. After this happened a few times, I almost quit using the pods for good. But after going back to the "measure and dump" method of detergent, I quickly decided to go back to pods and just keep a small bottle of liquid detergent on hand for short, cold loads.
